Global Citizenship Essay

We are currently living in a society where relationships and cultural

understanding is critical. Global education can give the kids a meaningful experience
through collaborative activities with people from other countries. The significance of
being a learner and citizen in the twenty first century is that you are globally competent
and prepared to tackle obstacles. The Ambassador school of Global Leadership’s
mission of raising awareness of global issues through exposure and discourse focuses
on developing global learners. Similarly, the vision is to prepare students to become
college and career ready, as well as globally competent. The essential qualities of of a
global learner and citizen are the ability to encourage others to improve, see the
perspectives of others and the ability to see that an individual can make a difference to
the world.
It is essential to be a global learner because it help us connect to others by
learning about their culture and open up our eyes to new topics. Someone who i think is
a global citizen is Richard Shope and can best be described as someone who is
extremely dedicated to educating. This person’s greatest achievement is creating the
world space foundation and this shows their commitment to global citizenship because
world space foundation is a nonprofit organization that let kids explore the scientific field
from exploring ice to space faring. In order to achieve this level of global citizenship one
must be patient, hardworking and obtain skills of a leader. In an ever-developing global
world learning in a global manner is critical as it teaches students how to lead and
prepares students to tackle global issues.
Becoming a global learner and citizen was crucial to my academic and personal
life because it allowed me to be aware of issues that I would have never thought existed
and taught me how to overcome obstacles. I believe I have mastered the global
performance outcomes best through projects and my internship. The experience of
mastering the global performance outcomes has helped me to understand my
strengths, weaknesses and limits. An experience where I had to apply my global
citizenship was during last summer, I had to intern in a program called EcoVoices and
SpaceFaring program. I had to teach students younger than me about the ecology. I
applied the GPO, recognize perspectives and taught the students to see how each
country have different ecosystem and how this affects the countries agriculture. It is
undeniable that achieving these qualities of a global learner has improved my overall
being because it helped me overcome obstacles that i deemed impossible at the start.
The global learner and citizen can best contribute to society as he or she is able
to create a concise opinion about several global issues and construct methods on how it
could be solved. One who has not achieved global competency is not as competitive
because he/she has not seen the harshness of the world and could still be considered
as a frog who is inside a well that only sees the sky and the walls inside the well. I will
contribute more effectively to society because I have experienced how to contribute to
society and understand what society needs from me. Global learning and engaging is
critical to the world because it gives students a meaningful experience by engaging with
people from other countries and seeing their perspective. Therefore, by applying my
experience as a global learner and citizen I will continue to use the GPOs in the future
to aid me with obstacles as well as sharing it to others to expand their horizons.
A global learner understands that his actions makes a difference around him and
takes into account the people around him. He/she is dedicated to what he is doing and
chooses to be a leader than a follower. Becoming a global learner is essential to all
students no matter where one is at in the world because it sharpens your skills and
prepares the individual to tackle any obstacle while taking into account the others
around him. Global learning should be implemented to other schools as it could prove to
be a wonderful tool for teaching students about other culture and exposing them to new
ideas.
