1. IMPORTANT NOTICE
● Submission System:
 Register an account and submit your full papers at VietTESOL Proceedings System
(Click here for a YouTube video walk-through of the submissions system)
 The first version of the submission must not contain any identifying author
information.
 Please use the template provided to format your manuscripts
 Submission system closes at 17:00 P.M Hanoi Time, 8 March, 2018.
 Tentative date of proceedings publication: June, 2018.
● Eligibility: Only papers submitted by presenters at the 3rd International VietTESOL
Conference 2017 are considered. The topic of the submission should be relevant to the
conference theme.
● Review process: Each submission will undergo a blind-review process by experts and
renowned scholars. Authors should make all attempts to revise their original manuscripts
based on the reviewers’ suggestions. The manuscripts must not contain any identifying
author information.
● Plagiarism Policy: Authors must appropriately acknowledge the ideas and works of others
via in-text citations and entries in the References (APA 6th edition) section.
● Submission Types: There are 2 different guidelines for research-based articles and practice-
based articles (See part 3 and 4). Authors are welcome to make a submission to an
appropriate type regardless of their presentation modes (paper/workshop/poster/electronic
miniworkshop/tech fair) at VietTESOL 2017.
● Fee: Please note that if a submission is accepted, the author will pay a VND 600,000
publishing fee for the inclusion in the conference proceedings (with an ISBN number)

2. GENERAL FORMATTING CHECKLIST FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS

Title ❏ Maximum: 15 words

capitalized, except for certain small words – articles,
prepositions, etc.)

letters capitalized.

5. TEMPLATE

Article title
[<Title>; use Times New Roman 16 pt. Maximum 15 words
Alignment: centred; single line spacing]

Please do not include the names of the authors in first submissions or revised submissions that are
going for blind review.

Write an <abstract> here, but do not use a heading. (This is not included in the word
count of the article.) Use Times New Roman 10 pt.; single line spacing; paragraph
spacing 0 before 12 pt. after.

Introduction [<H1> level heading; use Times New Roman 14 pt. bold. Paragraph
spacing 24 pt. before and 12 pt. after]

First-level headings like the one above are used to divide the article into its main sections.

Put a line space between paragraphs, but do not indent the first line of the new paragraph. Text
[<Text>] is Times New Roman 12 pt. with single line spacing. Paragraph spacing 0 before 0 after.

If you quote from another writer, put the quote ‘inside single quote marks’ if it is a phrase or a single
sentence.

Longer quotes should be a separate indented paragraph [<Extract>]. This applies


particularly if they are more than one sentence. Do not use italics for quotes. And with
any quote, make sure you give the page reference of the work it comes from. (Smith,
1997, p. 35)
Second-level headings [<H2> level heading; use Times New Roman 12 pt. bold. Paragraph
spacing 12 pt. before and 6 pt. after]

Side heading are used to break up sections of text and help the reader to see the focus. Side headings
normally relate to a series of paragraphs all dealing with a specific aspect of the section topic. These
are not usually numbered.

Numbered and alphabetized lists should have no full points or brackets around the initial
number/letter:

1 List one [<List>; use Times New Roman 12 pt. with numbering format]

2 List two

3 List three

4 List four.

Bulletted lists are as follows:

Third-level headings [<H3> level heading; use Times New Roman 12 pt. Paragraph spacing 12 pt.
before and 6 pt. after]

As above, these are not usually numbered.
