The Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math

Challenge is an annual Mathematics
competition for elementary and
secondary students in both public and
private schools nationwide. Now on its
16 th year, the Math Challenge is
being implemented by the
Metrobank Foundation, Inc. -(MBFI)-,
the Mathematics Teachers Association
of the Philippines (-MTAP-) and the
Department of Education (-DepEd-)
The overall objective of the MTAP is to contribute
in improving the quality of Mathematics
Education in the Philippines through

A.Awakening greater interest in Mathematics

among elementary and secondary school
learners;

B. Encouraging them to strive for excellence in

Mathematics;

C. Discovering mathematical talents among them;

D. Developing the values of hard work,

perseverance , honesty, teamwork and
sportsmanship; and
E. Providing them with the opportunities in
leadership and cooperative undertaking.
