Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill

Good Morning Class Good morning ma’am

1. The product is 36, one factor is 9, 1. 4

what is the other number? 2. 5 x 7
2. When two factor are multiplied, 3. 27
you get 35. What are the
numbers?
3. When 9 is multiplied by 3, what is
the product?

4. Review

Class what did we discuss yesterday? Ma’am we discuss about visualizing volume
of solid using standard unit.

Alright! I have here a measurement,

who will come to the board and
visualize the given.

3 cm by 3 cm by 3 cm (pupil visualizing the given measurement)

5. Motivation

I have here a plastic container.

Can you guess how many pencils are (Pupils Varied Answers)
are inside the container?

Yes very good.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation of the Lesson

Today we are going to discuss about

deriving the formula for the volume
of a rectangular prism.

Are you ready to listen? Yes ma’am

A rectangular prism is a solid figure
that has six faces, twelve edges and
eight vertices.

The formula in finding the volume of

the rectangular prism is V=L x W x H.

Wherein V stands for volume, L for

length, W for width and H for height.

For example:

Mother has a rectangular box. It has a

length of 10 cm, a width of 4 cm and a
height of 3 cm. what is the volume.

Now, what is being ask in the The volume of the rectangular box
question?

What is the given? L = 10 cm

W= 4 cm
H= 3 cm

Very good!

So, what would be the volume of

mother’s rectangular box?

Who will come to the front and show Ma’am!

the solution?

Yes, Stefanie. V= L x W x H
V = 10 x 4 x 3
V= 120 cm

Class is the answer correct? Yes ma’am

Very good!

I have here another example.

5m

2m
2m

Who will come to the front and

answer this one? Ma’am!

Yes, Adonis. V=L x W x H

V=2 x 2 x 5
V= 20 m
Is the answer correct? Yes ma’am

Alright!

2. Developmental Skills

Now, we are going to have an activity.

Each group should answer the given
activity and each member should
participate. Please be quit while
working your activities.

12 cm
 Group 1
1. 12 cm
12 cm 1728

 Group 2

6 cm 432
2. 3 cm
24 cm
 Group 3

4000

20 cm

3. 10 cm
20 cm

C. Concluding Activities
1. Generalization
Ma’am we learn about deriving the formula
What did you learn today?
for the volume of rectangular prism.

We find the volume of the rectangular prism

How did you find the volume of a
by using the formula V=L x W x H
rectangular prism?

No ma’am
Very good! Is there any question?
IV- Evaluation

Solve for the following. Show your solution.

8 cm

1. 6 cm
10 cm

6 cm

2. 4 cm
9 cm

20 m

3. 18 m
25 m

4. A wooden box is 24 cm long, 18 cm wide and 9 cm high. How much space does it
enclose?
5. The length of a rectangular prism is 6 cm and the width is 4 cm while it stands 10 cm.
what is the volume?

IV- Assignment

Solve for the following problem.

1. A refrigerator has a square base with each side that measures 60 cm and stands 122 cm.
Find the volume of the refrigerator.
2. 2. A toy box in the shape of a rectangular prism. It is 35 cm long and 15 cm high. If its
width is 20 cm, what is its volume?
