1.Differentiate subjectivity from objectivity.

Subjectivity is considered to be a judgment based on individual personal feeling, emotion, aesthetics, etc.
rather than external facts. It has a viewpoint, or possibly a bias, regardless of the information it provides. It guides
everything from the choice of topic that one studies, to formulating hypotheses, to selecting methodologies, and
interpreting data. This can be considered mind-dependent because one is not using a fact, they are using their
personal opinion.

On the other hand, objectivity is completely meant to be unbiased. The researcher being outside of the
information, when they present it they do so without taking a stance or expressing their feelings in relation to that
information. Objectivity is not influenced by emotions, opinions or personal feelings-it is based in facts, in things
quantifiable and measurable. This can be considered mind-independent because it is information that is not being
altered based on an opinion.

Generally speaking, it comes down to the difference between fact (objective) and opinion (subjective).

2.Given the chance to research, would you right away choose qualitative research? Give reasons for your answers.

I would not choose qualitative research if given a chance to research. Why? Because in qualitative
research it is possible that the researcher is often the person doing the interview or involved in some other way.
This does not allow them the outside perspective like the quantitative research. There are also more bias involved
in qualitative research. This is because most of the results come from the researcher’s interpretation of the data.
This does not seem all that accurate-two different people looking at the same interview could interpret in two very
different ways, depending on their mood, personality, upbringing and a huge number of other factors. It is also time-
consuming. On the other hand qualitative research is more on being subjective.

3. If you will do a qualitative research about the area in which your house is situated, what would be your research
problem or topic?

I will based it on the frequently occuring concern of the people in our place and most of them don’t have a
primary source of living. So I would choose a topic that would tackle about the alternative source of livelihood. The
primary source of livelihood in our place is farming. Farmers are usually men, thus women are usually left at home
and tend doing household chores. However, for most of the time, usually mothers have more free time. It is the free
time that they want to make use of to be productive and help their husbands earn for the household.
