ENVIORNMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT

7.1 ENVIRONMENTAL BASELINE DATA


Environment includes water, land, air, ecology, noise, socio — economic issues,
etc. The information presented in this section stems from various sources such
as reports, field surveys and environment monitoring. Majority of data on water
quality, vegetation, and air and noise quality was collected during field studies
from March 2009 to May 2009. This data has been utilized to assess incremental
impact if any due to the project. Development / compilation of environmental
baseline data are essential to assess the impact on environment due to the
project. The proposed Metro project coming at Ahmedabad from GIFT City to
Koba Circle has been considered as study area.

7.2 SITE
The present site is located in Ahmedabad from GIFT City to Koba Circle of
Gujarat State. 23°09'45.24"N latitude and 72°40'31.60"E longitude & 23°08'43" N
latitude and 72°38'03.48"E longitude. The nearest major road, National Highway
(NH-5) and the nearest railway station is Ahmedabad. Nearest village from the
proposed site is Koba Village, within 7.5 km stretch.

7. 3 CLIMATE
Ahmedabad has a tropical monsoon climate, which is hot and dry, except in the
rainy season. Summer days are very hot with mean maximum temperature of
41.3° C while nights are pleasant with mean minimum temperature of 26.3 ° C.
The mean maximum and minimum temperature are 30 ° C and 15.4 ° C
respectively. The average annual rainfall of the area is 782 mm, although there is
a considerable variation from year to year. The average relative humidity is 60%
with a maximum of 80% to 90% during the rainy season.

7.4 SEISMICITY
Gujarat has been classified in Zone II, III & IV in various stretches. The project
area falls in Zone III of Seismic Zoning Map of India. The India Meteorological
