Travelling abroad is one of the cherished dreams of most Indians.

large number of Indians are traveling

abroad and realizing their ambition. But there are few people who can turn their dream into a reality.

But astrologically we can interpret which chart have chances for going abroad.
People visit foreign countries for various purposes some go there for vacations, some go on business trip,
some students go for further higher education. But most of them go on the basis of immigration.

To examine this an astrologer has to see many things like the houses and planets concerned with foreign
travel.

Primary houses for foreign journey are 9th and 12th house.

If these houses fall in moveable signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) or water signs (Cancer, Scorpio,
Pisces), then there is a possibility of foreign travel (or travel over the seas!). It is obvious from the above
that Cancer is a powerful sign in this regard as it is both a moveable sign and a watery sign. Thus if the
9th or 12th houses of a horoscope fall in these signs, or if the 9th or 12th house lords fall in these signs,
you may deduce that foreign travel is indicated for such natives.

For an example native is going abroad for higher education and in his chart 4th lord is placed in the 9th
house which happens to be a moveable sign, or a watery sign, and is conjunct the 12th lord,

We may conclude that the native will be traveling abroad for higher education (4th house stands for basic
education; 9th house stands for advanced courses/ specializations).

When 4th lord is placed in 12th house then native will find more auspicious living in abroad rather than at
his native place.

Association of 5th, 9th, and 12th lords in the dasamsha indicate traveling abroad for professional
reasons. These persons are usually employed as skilled professional like (scientists, professors, etc.)in
abroad. If the combination of 9th and 10th lord is associated with the 12th house, the native may go on
to win prestigious awards in the foreign country, and in some cases even get elected to high
constitutional posts like Senator/ Governor/ Chairman of Board of Studies, etc. Curiously similar
combinations will be found in the horoscopes of Indian posted abroad. Similar are the results when 10th
and 12th lords of the dasamsha have mutual aspect or association.

It should be noted that while moveable signs indicate travels away from homeland and hence might
indicate long stay abroad, common signs indicating foreign travel signify that the person might travel a
lot to foreign lands, but there will be no extended stay there

Periods When Foreign Travels Are Indicated :

When there are adequate prospects in the natal chart for going abroad, the native may undertake foreign
travels during any of the periods mentioned below,

1) Dasa/ bhukti of the 9th lord or the 12th lord, or the planets that are in association with the 12th lord
(by placement or aspect).
2) Dasa/ bhukti of the planets that are associated with Moon

3) Dasa/ bhuktis of Rahu, Venus, or Moon if these planets are in the 12th house.

4) Dasa/ bhuktis of exalted/ debilitated planets in the horoscope.

5) Sub-periods of Ketu and Rahu in the major period of Rahu.

6) Jupiter bhukti in Saturn dasa (if Jupiter owns 12th house)

7) Dasa/ bhukti of the planets associated with the 9th lord.

8) When Saturn in its transit crosses the natal position of Sun.

9) When Jupiter in its transit aspects the 9th or 12th house, or aspects the 9th/ 12th house lords.

10) Foreign journeys are experienced even during sade-sathi.

Directions associated with the journey(especially for western countries like U.S. and Canada)

As direction of the journey is mostly linked with rashi’s direction:

Rasi which represent the western side are Gemini, libra and aquarius
When the concerned lords and moon are placed in respective houses like 9th, 12th or 4th in these rashi
then chances are more bright that one will go to US or Canada.

Making a short trip to any place in the world may have nothing to do with your horoscope except when it
happens due to strange reasons or when it happens for the 1st time after many years of trying to go.
The planets are usually not the cause of such fun tours. Maybe the real reason is just your desire and the
extra money in the bank. Karma or your horoscope has nothing to do with it. But during the same trip
you get involved in road accident then ti means it was part of your Karma. If you get arrested in a foreign
land then you went there because of your karma. If you become a millionaire by buying a lottery ticket
while on a casual trip it is surely part of the plan of the planets. If you come back without any major
events then such a trip may not show up in your horoscope.

However when you are going to a foreign land in search of a livelihood and then perhaps even settle
down leaving your kith and kin behind and starting a fresh life as though you were born in that new place
then it is something to do with your destiny which means the planets in your horoscope are at work.
Such a type of transition is not happening due to mere chance or just because you desired to get there.

The other side is always greener. It seems that there is always more happiness in a foreign land. This is
true if you are not living in a developed country. Can all of us enjoy life once we go to a much sought
after place in the world? Is it the right place? Is the right time? When should we go? When should we
come back if at all? Or are we wasting time and spoiling our career by looking for short-term gains in a
foreign land. What did Maharshi Parasara (the father of Vedic astrology) say about all this? In his Brihat

meaning after nearly 5000 years then you are in for an intellectual surprise.

Great Luck in foreign countries:

The 6th house is the house of foreigners. The 2nd house is the house of income. If these are connected
either by a conjunction or by a strong aspect between themselves, then a person will have income in
foreign countries.

The 11th house deals with gain, and so if a person has the 11th house lord in the 6th the person has
great luck to go abroad and work in foreign countries.

The highest luck and karma to go abroad and work comes when you have the 6th house lord in the 10th
house (profession/career/livelihood).

If you have the 11th house lord in the 12th house you will have friends abroad. If you have the lagna
lord in the 7th house you will constantly travel abroad. If you have few of these then you may go away
from your birth city and live in another city but well within your place of birth. The distance is
proportionate to the number of these combinations present. The more the better! If you have few of
them you can work for foreigners while living in your homeland.

Struggle and wandering in foreign countries:

If malefic planets like Sani (Saturn), Rahu, Ketu, Ravi (Sun), Kuja (Mars) occupy the 12th house in your
horoscope or if these malefic planets are associated with the 12th house in anyway then you will still be
able to go abroad and work, but only to lead a life full of stress and struggle there.

After the ruling periods (dasha) of such planets end, your stay abroad will end and you will come back to
your home country and will have to start all over again in your homeland.

Most of it is fate, but by doing remedies you can prevent such things to a great extent instead of falling
prey to your own karma and desires. Such a bad phase of struggle in foreign countries usually happens
during the dasha and bhukti (sub period) of planets related to the 12th house.

People having many of these astrological combination will keep changing jobs frequently in foreign
countries due to dissatisfaction and disappointment.

If Rahu occupies the 12th house surely the person may have to live in a foreign land almost like exile
from home country, struggle in a foreign country as though the foreign country is a jail, and then after
finishing the term come back to freedom.

Is the luck in foreign countries endless?

Not always. There are specific periods of time (ranging from months to years) in which a person has a
peak time in foreign countries. Once the luck fades away it is better he/she returns. For some people
many years (based on a dasha period) this sort of luck will be experienced in a foreign land y be lucky
and they should not return until they finish off their karma in foreign countries.

Luck in homeland

If the 4th house (homeland or motherland) is strongly and beneficially related to 5th and 9th or 1st
house, then the person will have great luck in homeland and only during the bad phase of his life such a
person will go abroad, but quickly revert back. Such a person will not like to move away from their
mother and their motherland. People having such astrological combination in their horoscope love their
home land and will always want to come back.
Dasha effect:

There are some special dasha that always favor the 1st foreign assignment. This is usually the period of
Rahu and Ketu, and especially it is Rahu. This is because Rahu is a foreigner to the planetary system as it
is just a shadow. Usually in Rahu dasha in the sub period of Ketu, many people have made their 1st trip.

Similarly to Rahu is Saturn. So in the dasha of Saturn also one may go abroad to a foreign land for the
1st time.

If the person is going abroad as a sort of punishment (negative karma) then it may happen during Rahu-
Saturn or Saturn-Rahu period. It may also happen in a ruling period of a planet placed in the 12th house
or aspecting the 6th.

Bhava position:

If the 4th house lord is in the 6th house or the 12th then such a person is likely to get into trouble by
going abroad. Moreover Karma effects will ensure that such a person have to go abroad and then
experience great pressure in personal life in a foreign land. Such a person should also look out for vastu
defects in the home that they live. Chances are such a person will be pushed by fate to live in a bad-
vastu home automatically. With the guidance of a Vastu expert the corrections has to be done.

Planets places on the 6th and 12th axis during their planetary periods may give a person their 1st
assignment abroad. Similarly planets placed in such houses that cause luck (yoga) in foreign lands during
their planetary period will give foreign assignment. If the period of a planet owning the 10th house
occupies the 6th house or vice versa will be excellent time in a foreign land. Such a person will anyway
be already having income through foreign lands. So if the period of such a planet comes in the prime age
of a person’s life then the sky is the limit.

Favourable directions:

Each planet rules a particular direction. For example Mercury rules over the North side. So Mercury rules
the foreign places that are in the north to your place of birth. If Mercury is in Lagna and if the dasha of
Mercury starts in your life then you have more luck if you go northwards. If you are in a favourable
Venus period and Venus occupies the 4th house then moving South East is considered lucky for you. If
Saturn is in the 7th house then you will have more luck if you move Westwards. If Moon is in the 4th
house then North West is considered good. If Sun is in the 10th house then moving East is considered
good.

The Grand Plan of the Planets:

The plan of the planets is that not all the people should go abroad. Not all people should go to the same
country in the world. So each person has different luck and that too in different directions at different
time. The even distribution is automatic as per Karma plans.

So those who are not supposed to go abroad, even if they manage to go, will have to face failures in a
foreign land.Strange are the ways that Karma works through the planetary positions. This is the only way
to force them back to the homeland which is what their karma wanted in the first place.
