Demonstration 5-1: View a Configured Item Work Order
Overview
In this demonstration, you will show how to view the work order to ensure that it was created
successfully in Manufacturing, and can now be executed. You will search and view the work
order in Manufacturing that was created in response to the supply order created by Supply
Chain Orchestration. You will also review the work order operations, items, and resources.

Prerequisites
A sales order for an ATO model was configured and submitted. The fulfillment process is
successful and a supply order was created successfully.

User Login: scm00.Instructor

Steps:

Navigate to the Work Execution Work Area


1. In the Navigator, click Work Execution under Manufacturing.
2. On the Work Execution Overview page, click Manage Work Orders from the Tasks
panel.
3. Search for the work order number created in the Lesson 3 demonstration.
4. In the Search Results region, click on the Work Order link.
5. The work order opens in a dynamic tab.
6. Review the following information on the General Information tab:
 Work order is created in Released status.
 The configured item number is displayed.
 The work definition has Production Priority 1.
 This means the work order uses the primary work definition of the ATO model.
7. Click the Operations tab.
 Review the operations, and the items and resources assigned to each operation.
 Make a note if Operation 20 or Operation 30 is included. Later, we will understand
when Operation 20 or Operation 30 is included in the work order after looking at the
ATO model work definition and applicability rules.
8. Click on the Reservations tab.
Note: The work order is reserved against the sales order created in Lesson 3 demo.

Demonstration Complete
You have successfully reviewed the configured item work order that is created to fulfill the
customer order.

Practice 5-1: Define an ATO Model Work Definition
Overview
In this practice, you will create a work definition for an ATO model. This setup is required to
create the work order for the configured item. You will create work definition operations by
referencing standard operations. You will assign the item structure components and view
operation resources. Lastly, you will create applicability rules for the option-dependent
operations.

Prerequisites
 Item data such as the ATO model item and its structure exist.
 Manufacturing data such as work area, resources, work centers, standard operations
exist.

User Login: scmXX.student (XX is the student number assigned to you)

Summary of Tasks
 Create a work definition name
 Create work definition operations
 Assign operation items
 Update operation items
 View operation resources
 Add Applicability Rule

Steps:
In the following set of tasks, you will log into the application as a manufacturing engineer to
create a work definition for an ATO model.

Create a work definition name


1. In the Navigator, click Work Definition under Manufacturing.
2. On the Work Definition Overview page, click Manage Work Definition Names in the
Tasks panel.
3. On the Manage Work Definition Names page, click the Add Row icon.
4. In the new row, enter or select values as follows:

Internal Name PRIMARY_XX
Description Primary_XX created for class

Used in Planning Select the check box
5. Click Save and Close.

Create a work definition header for an ATO model
6. Verify that the Manufacturing Organization in the top right corner is 002. Otherwise, change
it.
7. On Overview page, click Manage Work Definitions in the Tasks panel.
8. On the Manage Work Definitions page, click the Add icon.
9. In the Create Work Definition window, enter AT6751000 in the Item field and press the
Tab key.
10. Structure Name is defaulted to Primary and read-only.
11. Select the work definition name you previously created.
12. Accept the default value for the version.
13. Accept the default value for the start date.
14. Accept the default value for the production priority.
15. Click the Next button.

Create work definition operations


16. In the Operations area of the Create Work Definition window, click the Add Row icon. A
new operation row is added with operation sequence defaulted.
17. Enter the standard operations as follows. Leave the Referenced check box selected.

18. Click the Save and Edit button.

Assign operation items


19. On the Edit Work Definition Details page, drag and drop item OC4751100 from the item
structure to operation 10. Item is successfully assigned to operation 10.
20. For an alternate way to assign an item to an operation, right click on the item OC4751110 in
the Item Structure and select Assign from the Actions menu.
21. In the Assign Operation Item window, select 10 Tablet Assembly from the Operation
drop-down list.
22. Accept all other default values.
23. Click the OK button. The item is assigned to operation 10.
24. To assign multiple items to an operation at the same time, click the Collect icon which
looks like a check mark, under the heading Item Structure: Primary.
25. Select all items that have not been assigned by clicking the check mark icon.
26. Click the Collected Items icon and in the Collected Items dialog box select the arrow next
to Actions. Select Assign.
27. In the Assign Operation Item window, select 10 Tablet Assembly from the Operation
drop-down list.
28. Accept all other default values.
29. Click the OK button. Items are assigned to operation 10.
30. On the Edit Work Definition Details page, click Sa\

Update operation items


31. Click the Expand All icon under the heading Search: Work Definition.
32. Click the Items container for operation 10 Tablet Assembly to display all items that are
assigned.
33. Right click on item AT6755000 and select Edit from the Actions menu.
34. In the Edit Operation Item window, if the Supply Type is not Assembly Pull, then update
it to Assembly Pull.
35. Verify other attributes for item AT6755000 as shown in the table below
36. Click the OK button.
37. Click the Collect icon which looks like a check mark under the heading Search: Work
Definition.
38. Select by clicking the check mark icon for items OC4751110, OC4751120, OC4751130,
OC4751140, OC4751150, OC4751160, and OC4751170.
39. Click the Collected Items icon which looks like a shopping basket, and in the Collected
Items window, select the arrow next to Actions. Select Edit.
40. In the Edit Operation Items window, verify that the Supply Type is Phantom. Verify other
attributes as shown in the table below.
41. Click the OK button to close the window.

View operation resources


43. On the Edit Work Definition Details page, click operation sequence 20 card in the work
definition.
44. Click the Resources card associated with operation sequence 20.
45. Click resource PTM1 Performance Test Machine 1 then select View from the Action
menu.
46. In the View Operation Resource window, review the usage rate, basis, units assigned,
scheduled flag, and charge type values. You cannot edit because the operation is a
standard operation.
47. Click Done to close the window.
48. Click on each operation sequence and review the resources assigned.

Add Applicability Rule


49. Right-click operation sequence 20 and select Edit from the Actions menu.
50. In the Option Dependent Details area, select the Option dependent check box.
51. Click the Add Applicability Rule icon.

52. In the Add Applicability Rule window, In the Item Structure area, expand item
OC4751110 to display its components by clicking on the item card. It shows components
CM4751103 and CM4751104.
53. Drag and drop item CM4751103 to the Rule Text region.
54. The application automatically constructs the rule text as ITEM='AT6751000'.'OC4751110'.

55. Click the Validate button.
56. In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click the OK button.
57. Click the OK button in the Add Applicability Rule window.
58. Click OK in the Edit Operation window.
59. Now add an applicability rule for operation sequence 30.
60. Click operation sequence 30 and select Edit from the Actions menu.
61. In the Option Dependent Details region, select the Option dependent check box.
62. Click the Add Applicability Rule icon.
63. In the Item Structure region, expand item OC4751110 to display its components by
clicking on the item card. It shows components CM4751103 and CM4751104.
64. Right click on item CM4751104 and select Insert into Rule Text from the Actions menu.
65. The application automatically constructs the rule text as ITEM='AT6751000'. 'OC4751110'.

Demonstration 5-2: Review an ATO Model Work Definition and
Applicability Rules
Overview
In this demonstration, you will search and review the ATO model work definition based on which
the configured item work order was created. You will also review the applicability rules that were
assigned to the option-dependent operations in the work definition in an effort to understand
why certain option-dependent operations are included in the configured item work order, while
others are not included.

Prerequisites
A primary (Production Priority = 1) ATO model work definition was created, including the
applicability rules. The name of the work definition should be Main, which is the seeded work
definition name.

User Login: scm00.Instructor

Steps:

Navigate to the Work Definition Work Area


1. In the Navigator, click Work Definition under Manufacturing.
2. On the Work Definition Overview page, click Manage Work Definitions from the Tasks
panel.
3. In the Search for the work definition, enter the ATO model item name AT6751000.
4. In the Search Results region, click the work definition name Main hyperlink.
Note: There are 6 operations:
 10 Tablet Assembly
 20 Performance Test SO1
 30 Performance Test SO2
 40 Tablet Testing
 50 Monogram Application SO
 60 Tablet Packing
5. Click on the Collect icon which looks like a check mark under the Search: Work Definition
heading.
6. Select all of the operations by clicking the gray check marks.
7. The Collected Items icon shows 6 items have been collected. Click the Collected Items
icon and click Edit from the Actions menu.
8. On the Edit Operations secondary window, expand Operation 10.
Note: This is a mandatory operation as the Option Dependent checkbox is unchecked.
9. Expand Operation 20.
Note: This is an option dependent operation as Option Dependent checkbox is checked.
There is an applicability rule assigned to the operation as shown by the rule text.
10. Click on the Applicability Rule Text hyperlink. You are taken to the Edit Applicability
Rule page.

11. The rule text is ITEM='AT6751000'.'OC4751110'. 'CM4751103'. Locate item OC4751110
and expand it by clicking on the item card in the Item Structure region. It shows
components CM4751103 and CM4751104.
12. These components are CPU options. The Applicability Rule defines that Operation 20 is
applicable if the Quad Core 1.9GHz option is selected by the user during order capture.
13. Click Cancel on the Add Applicability Rule page.
14. Expand Operation 30.
Note: This is an option dependent operation as Option Dependent checkbox is checked.
There is an applicability rule assigned to the operation as shown by the rule text.
15. Click on the Applicability Rule Text hyperlink. You are taken to the Edit Applicability
Rule page.
16. The rule text is ITEM='AT6751000'.'OC4751110'. 'CM4751104'. Locate item OC4751110
and expand it by clicking on the item card in the Item Structure region. It shows
components CM4751103 and CM4751104.
17. The applicability rule defines that Operation 30 is applicable if the CPU option Quad Core
2.5 GHz is selected by the user during order capture.
18. Click Cancel on the Add Applicability Rule page.
19. Click on the Operation 10 card in the work definition region
20. Click on the Items container. Note the structure components that have been assigned to
the operation.
21. Right click on any of the component and from the Actions menu, select Edit, and review
the component attributes.
22. To perform multi select on components, click on the Collect icon, and select the
components to be viewed. Click on the Collected Items icon and from the Actions menu,
select Edit. You can review multiple components.
23. Right click on any of the resources assigned to the operations. From the Actions menu,
select Edit or View.
Note: If a resource is inherited from a standard operation, then you can only view it.
24. To perform multi select on resources, click on the Collect icon, and select the resources to
be viewed. Click on the Collected Items icon and from the Actions menu, select Edit or
View. You can review multiple resources.

Demonstration Complete
You have successfully reviewed the ATO model work definition including operations, items,
resources, and applicability rules that are used to create the configured item work order.

Demonstration 5-3: Complete a Configured Item Work Order
Overview
In this demonstration, you will complete a configured item work order from the dispatch list.
Completing the configured item work order transfers the reservation to inventory, allowing the
configured item to be shipped to the customer.

Prerequisites
A sales order for an ATO model has been configured and submitted. The fulfillment process is
successful and a supply order has been created successfully.

User Login: scm00.Instructor

Steps:

Navigate to the Work Execution Work Area


1. In the Navigator, click Work Execution under Manufacturing.
2. On the Manage Work Execution Overview page, click Review Dispatch List from the
Tasks panel
3. Search in work area Tablets with status Ready for the work order that you reviewed earlier.
4. Select the work order operation line.
5. Expand Operation 10.
6. Quantity Complete defaults to 10.
7. Click on Quick Complete button.
8. A confirmation message is displayed: Number of units completed at operation 10 for work
order WO-002-XXXX: 10 Ea. The next operation is 60 at work center Tablet Packing.
9. Expand Operation 60.
10. Quantity Complete defaults to 10.
11. Click on Quick Complete button.
12. A confirmation message is displayed: Number of units completed at operation 60 to
subinventory Completed for work order WO-002-XXXX: 10 Ea.
13. Click Done.

Demonstration Complete
You have successfully completed the configured item work order that is created to fulfill the
customer order.
