Eminem was born in 1972 in Kansas City as Marshall Bruce Mathers. He grew up between
Kansas City and Detroit. When he were 12, he and his mother moved permanently to
Warren, Michigan, where he attend Lincoln High School in Warren (1986-89). A fan of rap
music from a age young, Eminem began performing at age 14. Although he dropped out of
high school and work at odd jobs for a number of years, his
focus remained on his music.
Eminem has had a relationship tempestuous with his wife,
Kim, whom he married in 1999 but had been his girlfriend
since he was in school. She gave birth to their daughter,
Hailie Jade Scott, in 1995. In July 2000, Kim Mathers was
hospitalized before attempt suicide. A month later,
Eminem filed for divorce.

His debut album “Infinite” was released in 1996. “The Slim Shady LP”, was released on
February 23, 1999 and it eventually went triple platinum, and earned Eminem two Grammy
Awards, for Best Rap Solo Performance ("My Name Is") and Best Rap Album. Eminem had
similar critical and success commercial with his second release major, “ The Marshall
Mathers LP” (2000), which sold two million copies in his first week of release and became
the faster-selling rap album of all time. It express the feeling of frustration, revolt
against and provocation of the adult world by the young generation. The rapper and hip-
hop star distinguishes himself by his aggressive lyrics. However, a look at Eminem's
websites shows, that despite his political incorrectness, he has became a money making
machine, a first class consumer. Eminem herself is a (marketing) product of the society he
attacks. At the same time, he has become the symbol of a generation new. He is today's
star at the hip-hop sky. Provocation is part of her music. His latest album “ The Eminem
Show” were just released on May 26th 2002 and his first Hollywood movie, “8 Mile”,
debuted on November 2002. At the MTV Europe Music Awards, celebrated in Barcelona in
15 November 2002, he won three of them: Best Male Artist, Best Album and Best Artist
Hip-Hop.
