PART – A

Answer ALL questions 5x2 = 10 M

1. What is dimensioning? What are the different terms and notations used for dimensioning?
2. Explain reducing scale and give two practical applications.
3. An area of 400 square centimeters on a map represents an area of 25 square kilometers on a
field. Find the R.F.
4. What do you mean by eccentricity and how does it affect the shape of the conic section?
5. Construct a regular pentagon using angle method.
PART – B

Answer any THREE of the following 3x10= 30M

6. Draw a regular pentagon, hexagon, heptagon of 40 mm sides, using general method.

7. A room of 1000 m3 volume is represented by a block of 125 cm 3 volume. Find the R.F. and
construct a plain scale to measure up to 30 m. Measure a distance of 19 m on your scale.

8. A fixed point F is 75 mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point P moving in
such a way that its distance from the fixed straight line is 2/3 times its distance from F.
Name the curve. Draw normal and tangent at a point 6 cm from F

9. Construct a full size Vernier scale to read 1/8 inch 1/64 inch and mark on it lengths of 5 7/32
inch, 2 51/64 inch and 29/64 inch.
10. (A) Divide a 6.7 Inches lines into 11 Equal parts.
(B) A distance of 2 mm on a part of an instrument is to be represented by a line of 6 mm on
the drawing. Construct a scale and mark the distance of 38mm and 42 mm on it

11. The Marina beach at Chennai is 2.5 km long. On inspection of the road map, its equivalent
distance measures 5 cm. Draw a diagonal scale to read 50 m minimum. Mark on the scale a
distance of 6350 m.
