Some people have made great results swapping

the 6x5 for ez81 (using a socket converter or

something).

Panasonic FM series are my favs. Great HF performance and a

neutral sound. Is that what was supplied?
I've always liked the Panny FM over the BG so I'm curious.

rubycon ZL sound very similar as coupling caps.

The type which is supposed to be as good as black gate, at

least in some applications, is Conductive polymer, for
example SANYO SEP OSCON CAPACITORS.

Agreed. I use FMs extensively and like them very much.

Another one to try would be Elna SilmikII (RFS). Very low
distortion.

The FMs are generally a little less expensive and smaller (or
the same size) as the FC series. I wonder if the pricing has
changed or I just remember it wron?.

In any case - I still like them - whatever the size and cost.
They seem to be always lower impedance than the FC.

I've used them in a lot of Tripath amps and heard them used
in chip amps and tube amps. They always seem to do well.
The Elna caps, too

In my experience, the closest to BG N would be Panasonic FC,

Silmics, Oscons, Rubycons, BG STD are completely different

sounding caps.
Here's my choices: (listed in order of preference)

Signal Path Coupling: Nichicon Muse ES, Elna Silmic, Elna Cerafine, Elna Tonerex (very
warm!), Muse FG

Power Supply (Analog): Nichicon Muse KZ, Panasonic FM or Nichicon UHE, Elna
Silmic/Cerafine, Muse FG

Power Supply (Digital): Sanyo OS-Con, Panasonic FM, Nichicon Muse KZ

I haven't tried the Rubycon ZL's in many applications, but they're supposedly good for both
power supply and signal path applications.

Personally, I really only use the Black Gate N and NX/Hi-Q types for signal path
applications. I think the others listed above are better for PSU applications.

I've used Panasonic FM in quite a few applications. I cannot

tell the difference between them and Blackgates. Maybe I
have tin ears, but the price difference says it all for me!
I like the Panasonic FM's and Elna Silmic II's, but I haven't done
anything remotely serious comparison-wise.
Elna Silmic II's are better than Muse ES's - and I love ES's. I
was also only referring to coupling, not power supplies. It's
hard to beat a Panasonic FM in power supplies, but they stink
in coupling applications. Elna's would be wasted in power
supplies, IMHO.

I recently listened to a Bottlehead Crack amp, at a local meet, that used high voltage
Panasonic TS series caps for output coupling. It sounded very very good to me. I've never
heard the HD650's sound better.

If you look at the data sheet for the capacitor in question, you will probably notice that the
power correction factor for the ESR will change, sometimes quite drastically, with frequency.
The linearity of the part will depend somewhat on this factor. This coefficient of frequency is
less with the Elna caps than some others.
Audio Note Mods
Hallo:

I sell my AudioNote NOS DAC 3.1 x full upgrade, taking it to DAC 5.1x level and in a
pristine condition. Like new.

The following upgrades originals from factory are included:

- Ixys diodes in the digital section.

- Condensers of 0.47 silver MFD
- Replacement of series capacitors by Jansen capacitors in the output section and Black
Gate capacitors.
- Manual Switch to choice the digital input
-Modification of the RCA outputs to make them direct and independent and able to connect
two different preamplifiers or integrated amplifiers
-Valvo NOS tubes

The DAC also incorporates patented AudioNote technology which called as oversampling x
1, which is to say that it is a NOS DAC (Non OverSampling)

I would consider trades for Linn Akurate DS/1 or the new Cavalli Liquid Lighning MKII
amplifier

PayPal only. Shipping costs and fess (3.5%) not included.

Thank you
