Dear colleagues,

We are glad to announce that The 4 th Scientific Meeting Update in Neurology

will be held in Pullman Central Park Hotel, Jakarta on February 8th - 11th 2018.
This year theme will be “From Bench to bedside Translating Neuroscience
Clinical Research to Patient Care ”. Given the advanced knowledge and
progress in Neurology, we should gain better integrative cooperation with
other specialty fields, in order to provide the best treatment for our patients.

This year event will comprise workshops, symposiums and also an education
event dedicated for residents and general practitioners who have interest in
Neurology. We invite national and international speakers from various
specialties to give lectures and to share their experiences with us.

We are grateful for the big contribution by our speakers, moderators and also
the generous educational grants from our colleagues from pharmaceutical companies, as well as Pullman
Central Park Hotel Jakarta. Without their participation, this important educational event would be impossible
to be held.

I have no doubt that the 2018 meeting will be spectacular.

 WELCOME MESSAGE
Dear colleagues and friends,

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 4th Scientific Meeting Update in Neurology
organised by the National Brain Centre Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia / Rumah Sakit Pusat
Otak Nasional, Jakarta, Indonesia. The first meeting was held from 21-23 February 2014
in Jakarta, the second from 22-25 January 2015 in Bandung, West of Java in collaboration
with the Department of Neurology, Padjajaran University, Hasan Sadikin Hospital. The
third was held from 25-28 February 2016 in Jakarta. Encouraged by the overwhelming
success and positive feedback from the attendees of the third meeting, we have decided
to organise the Meeting once again, this time in Jakarta from 8-11 February 2018, with
the theme "From Bench to Bedside: Translating Neuroscience Clinical Research to
Patient Care”. We also have a special program which is dedicated for neurology
residents, general practitioners, nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists who have an
interest in Neurology.

We are considering organising a public symposium and fun walk for our stroke patients, their relatives and care givers to
increase the awareness about stroke and hoping to prevent and reduce disability and mortality caused by stroke. It would
be an interesting experience for them as they would be able to listen to others and share their experience coping with
stroke. Otherswho attend might also find it helpful too.

The NBCH is our national referral centre for patients with neurological diseases, and provides general and subspecialty
services. Since opening its doors on 14 July 2014, NBCH has treated patients from all over Indonesia having a range of
illnesses from the less complex to the severely complicated, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. NBCH will also in
future be a centre for training for those doctors who are interested in doing a fellowship in neurology as well as for ground-
breaking neuroscience research. The vision is for NBCH to rank among the best neuroscience centres in the region. We
continually seek collaboration with other hospitals that share our passion in patient care, education and research, and look
forward to partnerships with like-minded institutions.

Our special focus this year is on neuroscience clinical research and evidence-based medicine for patients which we hope
can be useful for our clinical practice and patient care. The rapid advances in knowledge in disease mechanisms and
treatment combined with higher patient expectations necessitate a cohesive and efficient provision of high-quality service
only possible by well-integrated team-based care.

The faculty comprising expert national speakers and overseas speakers will conduct 11 workshops, 1 acute revascularization
combined approach for special skills station, and symposia to update the audience on a wide range of clinical issues in
major neurological illnesses We have again organised a special 2-day session specially for nurses to further upgrade their
skills and knowledge in neuroscience nursing. We have received high-quality scientific research abstracts by neurology
residents, clinicians and researchers; please visit their posters during the breaks.

To complement the scientific aspects of the Conference, we will meet on Gala dinner night to enjoy a wide variety of
Indonesian traditional and international cuisines while being entertained by famous artistes, which will be held in the Raffles
Hotel, Jakarta, together with a get-along with the organizing committee, speakers and participants.

We wish to sincerely thank our local and international faculty for preparing their excellent talks. We thank our many

committee who have worked day and night without any help from professional event organizers carefully putting this
