The next round is where you begin to add the contrasting
color (I use Green). You can improvise this however you
wish. Here is what I did: increasing where indicated, sc the
first 5 sts with White yarn, the next 4 sts switch to Green,
then sc the next 5 sts with White, and the last 4 sts in
Green. I simply carried the colors behind each other as I
worked around as in Fair Isle.
13: (sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 2 times (18).
In round 14, use the following color pattern: 1 st Green, 3
sts White, 6 sts Green, 3 sts White, 5 sts Green.
14: sc in each st around (18).
In round 15, don’t forget to increase where indicated, and
use the following color pattern: 2 sts Green, 1 sts White, 9
sts Green, 1 st White, 7 sts Green.
15: (sc in next 7sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 2 times (20).
Row 16 work in Green around.
16: sc in each st around (20).
17: (sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 2 times (22).
18: sc in each st around (22).
Fold your mountain in half. Mark the 2 sides of the
mountain with stitch markers (see Figure 1).
19: sc in each st to first marker, 2 sc in next st, sc in each st
to next marker, 2 sc in next st (24).
20: sc in each st around (24).
21: As in Round 19 (26).
22: sc in each st around (26).
23: As in Round 19 (28).
24: sc in each st around (28).
25: As in Round 19 (30).
26-27: sc in each st around (30).
28: As in Round 19 (32).
Continue increasing every 3rd round until the mountain is
your desired height. Mountain shown is 33 rounds.
Stuff and sew the bottom of the mountain closed.

Mountain Range

To combine different sizes into one Mountain Range of Mega-Awesomeness, make a mountain of each size but
stop at the following rounds: stop the tall mountain after round 16, stop the medium mountain after round 12,
and stop the hill after round 10. Fold each mountain in half and mark the 2 sides of each mountain with stitch
markers. Sc to the st before the 1st stitch marker on the first mountain. Then join the second mountain by sc
into the 2nd st after the 1st stitch marker on the second mountain. Sc across until the st before the 2nd marker.
Join the third mountain by sc into the 2nd st after the 1st stitch marker on the third mountain. Sc across to 2nd
stitch marker, 2 sc in next st, then repeat on the other side of all the mountains. Increase at each end of the
pillow every 3 rows. Keep adding until the pillow is as big as you wish. Stuff and sew the bottom of the
mountain closed and in the gaps between each mountain.
