Benumbed- to make (someone) numb or unable to have emotions

Ruthless- having no pity or cruel or merciless

Degradation- the act or process of damaging or ruining something/ the act of treating
someone or something poorly and without respect

Oppression- unjust or cruel exercise of authority or power/ something that oppresses


especially in being an unjust or excessive exercise of power

Earnest- a serious and intent mental state/ a considerable or impressive degree or


amount

Partially- somewhat but not completely, to some extent or in some degree

Optimism- a feeling or belief that good things will happen in the future, a feeling or belief
that what you hope for will happen

Prejudice- an unfair feeling of dislike for a person or group because of race, sex,
religion, etc. a feeling of like or dislike for someone or something especially when it is
not reasonable or logical

Despair- to no longer have any hope or belief that a situation will improve or change

Cynical- believing that people are generally selfish and dishonest/ selfish and dishonest
in a way that shows no concern about treating other people fairly
