Sandra Maxwell Putman writes 2003:

Imogene Wilemon Maxwell was the daughter of Worthy Sylvester
Wilemon & Zula Modelia Ellis, Oneonta, Straight Mountain, Blount County, AL. Mother and Dad met when
my Grandfather, Wilemon pastored the church in McMinnville, TN that Dad's mother, Betty Pavo Maxwell was
attending. They both moved to different states (Raymond to Detroit, MI and Imogene to Orlando, FL) and
didn't get married until April 1942.

Just after High School graduation Raymond Hughes Maxwell had attended two years at Lee Bible School in
Cleveland, TN in preparation for the ministry. He went to Detroit, MI and was working there after a
"Ministerial Deferment" from the draft while waiting for an assignment to a church. Sometime in 1943 he
became Pastor of a church in Boaz, AL, and this is the state where we all reared, and now all live in Jefferson
Co., AL in suburbs of Birmingham.
