ORIGINS
I
t is no wonder that the “golden triangle” of Italian gardens was the ideal cradle that
generated Unopiù, almost by chance in 1978. In the Tuscia countryside, long time
heart of refined Etruria, a typically Italian inspired traditional handcraft production
for the outdoors was initiated whose roots were firmly embedded in the landscape.
Unopiù began in Soriano in Cimino 15kms from the Papal city of Viterbo. Soriano is a
charming town immersed in the countryside, which was Luigi Pirandello’s chosen holiday
destination.
This is the heart of an area which has been connected to garden culture for centuries.
What is now referred to as “outdoor” has existed here for centuries: in a radius of just a few
kilometers we find The Monster Park of Bomarzo to the north-east, the so called Sacred
Wood with its surreal peperino sculptures that Dalì so loved, to the west is Bagnaia’s Villa
Lante with its world famous formal Italian renaissance gardens, while to the south soars
the Ruspoli Castle in Vignanello with its very original plant sculptures.
It was from the heart of Tuscia and the love of gardens that a utopian-like project took root
almost forty years ago and is still extremely relevant today: the creation of perfect solutions
to furnish outdoor areas conceiving them as an integral part of the home, dedicating the
same care, passion and refinement to them.

MATERIALS

oday Unopiù offers a choice of over 2,000 articles from furnishings, garden
structures, complementary articles, accessories to lighting. A wide range of
materials in continual development is chosen with care based on quality and
resilience to weathering agents. Our products are made following the most
renowned technical traditions using the most advanced technology, Unopiù materials
totally satisfy every desire for esthetic and functional comfort.
Teak has always been the favoured material for the creation of outdoor furniture, thanks to
its exceptional strength and resilience to weathering agents and for the ease with which
it can be worked. The best quality “Grade A” teak has always been used, which comes
from the centre of the trunk and is thus richer in oleoresin, is knot free and has an even
grain. Fully respecting eco-sustainability, only teak from cultivated adult plants grown by
government agencies of supplier countries is used.
Besides teak, steel, powder coated forged galvanized iron, stone, pressure treated pine,
ecological and heavy duty synthetic cord and fibre, leather, synthetic polypropylene fabric
are just a few of the materials used in Unopiù products, all distinguished by their quality
and the craftsmanship they demand. These are timeless materials, usually hand moulded
using age old traditional techniques combined with advanced research and technology,
which never lose their prized unique and natural characteristics.
However the true testimony to Unopiù’s ability to project an innovative look in the world of
outdoor living is its continued search for combinations and materials that create pleasing

Shelter is a freestanding bioclimatic pergola.
The structure is in aluminium with powder coated finish in white gloss
or matt graphite and includes gutter and downpipe.
Two types of roofing are available:

- adjustable aluminium louvers (from 0° to 130°), motorized with remote
control. The louver adjustment provides the perfect balance of light,
ventilation and temperature offering optimum conditions
at any time of the day. Closing the louvers completely ensures optimum
protection from rain. The new version comes with integrated LED lighting
has 9 warm white spotlights; the option of being able
to regulate the light intensity gives great effect to this pergola.
The three aluminium louvers with the spotlights

Design Ferruccio Laviani
Shibuya has revolutionized the world

of garden structures by introducing
the concept of dynamism.
It is composed of a fixed unit (anchored to the ground)

and a mobile one (fitted with two wheels)
or two mobile units (fitted with 6 wheels).
The latter ensures the option of being able to move
and extend it wherever one should wish.
The structure is in galvanized iron with powder coated
finish in matt white or matt graphite and has pirouetting
wheels with a blocking mechanism.
The mobile freestanding version
has 7.5 cm diameter wheels fitted suitable
for movement on pavements or 12.5 cm diameter
suitable for movement on uneven ground and grass.
They also have blocking brackets
for safety during high winds.
The pergola is completed with various types of roofing:
panels of treated Nordic pine slats, bamboo shade
or microperforated shade (40% polyester coated with
60% PVC) in hemp colour with manual opening and
closing mechanism. During winter roofing
must be removed to avoid snow overloading.
The Shibuya pergola can be enhanced

with side blinds in microperforated fabric (40%
polyester coated with 60% PVC) in hemp white

The side blinds partially enclose the structure with a

Attached pergola whose structure is in lamellar Nordic pine
and can be painted in dark walnut, teak or in colours
from the Unopiù Colour range (p. 234).
The pergola is available without roofing or with the following roofing:
- polycarbonate (minimum pitch 5%);

- wood (adding terracotta tiles over waterproof roofing felt);
- wood and bitumen roof shingles (minimum pitch 18%);
- aluminium louvers (pitch varies from 10% to 15%) with gutters and downpipes.
The aluminium louvers, powder coated in pale ivory, can be regulated with
a manual adjustment rod (from 0° to approx 130°).
The independent adjustment of each module allows regulation

of air and light and offers optimum protection from the rain.
Roof should be left open in snowy conditions (louvers at 90°).
Measurements given refer to the maximum area occupied
by the structure when it is hypothetically erected on the flat.
The front posts are 250 cm high and can be cut on site as required.
You can create a truly versatile made to measure modular system
which is adaptable to all types of areas
and can be enhanced with Wood Garden accessories.

MAINTENANCE
All Unopiù teak furniture is made for life outdoors without the need
for any particular maintenance. The wood surface is rich in oily resin

Should you wish to go back to the original orange colour,
suffice to wash and dry the piece and rub it
