A 35000 MW DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, IS IT A TARGET OR A REQUIREMENT?

Frequent power outages in Indonesia are causes by lack of supply sufficient electricity. This is due to Indonesia geographical
which is formed by islands, so that the electricity provided by the government cannot reach the small islands in Indonesia,
beside that the high economic growth also causes the lack of supply of electricity needed.

The 35,000 MW program is a government project to build a power plant of up to 35,000 MW due to 2019. By 2015, the total
installed power empowerment capacity is ± 50,000 MW built by PLN and the private sector since PLN established. With a
projected economic growth of 6-7% a year, the addition of domestic electricity capacity requires at least 7,000 MW per
year.

Over the next 5 years, the government together with PLN and the private sector will build 109 plants; each of which consists
of 35 projects by PLN with a total capacity of 10,681 MW and 74 projects by private / Independent Power Producer (IPP)
with a total capacity of 25,904 MW.

Development is still focused on the central and western part of Indonesia (Java-Bali), where this development should be
fully utilized to power electricity all over Indonesia which is still not reached by electricity, from Sabang to Merauke.
Development should be in the eastern part of Indonesia too, so that the wheels of the eastern Indonesian economy can be
increased because it will attract investors to invest in the eastern region especially Papua. However, in reality the largest
share or about 60 percent of the power plant will be built in the Java-Bali system. PLN plans to build a 20,921 MW Java-Bali
power plant in the next five years built by PLN 7,379 MW (35 percent) and IPP (Independent Power Producer) 13,542 MW
(65 percent).

So what about the eastern Indonesia and other small islands? The Government programed "Listrik Desa" where the goal is
to turn on power sources that can be used based on the advantages of their respective regions. An example is solar panels,
for the eastern region that can be spelled rarely rain, solar panels are an alternative energy suitable for installation, besides
PLTMH is also very suitable for villages that are rich in water resources.

However, the government's big note is the equitable distribution of electricity, given the alternative sources mentioned
cannot work at night unless there is a container of energy in the form of batteries.

Why Java-Bali is the largest development, while we know that the eastern and small islands it is still out reach of electricity?

This is due to the density of population in Java-Bali so that it requires a considerable supply of electricity for the next few years, in addition to the high demand
of industrial companies that invest in Indonesia causes the fulfilment of demand for electricity supply required by the company.
