INSTRUCTIONS
GAUGE Make Rose
4.5 sts = 1 inch With Rose Color, CO 5 sts.
in stockinette Rows 1, 3, 5: Kfb, k to end.
Rows 2, 4, 6: P to last 2 sts, pfb, p1. 11 sts.
Row 7: Knit
SIZES Row 8: Purl
One Size Rows 9, 11, 13: K1, k2tog, k to end.
Rows 10, 12, 14: P to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1. 5 sts.
Repeat rows 1-18 three times. Four large petals made, 10 petals total.
Fasten off the last stitch and break yarn, leaving a 30-inch tail to sew rose to base.
Make Base
With Base Color, CO 3 sts and work 3-stitch I-cord for 12-inches, or desired length.
Turn needle so that working yarn is on your right hand side and beg working back and
forth on two double-point needles as follows:
Slide 3 rem sts to opposite end of double-point needle and work 3-stitch I-cord for 12
inches, or desired length. Break yarn and thread yarn tail through rem 3 sts. Place a pin
on one side of the base to mark the right side.
Make Leaves
Small leaf: With right side facing, pick up three stitches along edge of base next to I-cord,
as pictured in Diagram 1.
Large Leaf: With right side facing, pick up three stitches along edge of base next to I-cord
as pictured in diagram 1.
Rows 10, 12, 14, 16: Ssk, k to last 2 sts, k2tog. 3 sts.
Row 18: Sk2p. 1 st.
Finishing
Secure leaves by stitching one edge of each leaf to the I-cord, as pictured in Diagram 1.
With purl side facing outward, pin the large petals along the outside edge of the base.
Continue rolling up the rose in a spiral shape and pin in place, finishing with the small
petals in the center. Stitch the straight edge of the rose to the base with the 30-inch yarn
tail.
Weave in all ends. Soak and block well, shaping petals and leaves.
