AIRCRAFT GAS TURBINES

7. A multi stage turbine is to be designed with impulse stages, and is to operate withan inlet
pressure and temperature of 6 bar and 900 K and an outlet pressure of 1bar. The isentropic
efficiency of the turbine is 85 %. All the stages are to have anozzle outlet angle of 75 degrees
and equal outlet and inlet blade angles. Meanblade speed of 250 m/s and equal inlet and outlet
gas velocities. Estimate themaximum number of stages required.

ratio is 0.6 and the turbine runs at 3600 rpm. Calculate for the hub, mean and tipsections (a)
