PROCEDURE

 Verification of Competencies

o Verification of Competency assessments is to be conducted on employees operating


machine and equipment. Personnel who operate machines/equipment shall be certified and
or competent with the machine/equipment they operate, with their competencies assessed,
verified, documented, and recorded. Documentary evidence of competencies is to be
retained on the employees’ records.

 Identification of training needs and awareness programs

Philips Wire & Cable Co. is committed to the determination and provision of ongoing
Occupational Safety and Health training and education.

o The Human Resource department with participation of the Safety Committee is responsible
for identifying training needs and awareness programs for company-wide participation for
Occupational Health and Safety.

o Departmental Managers or Supervisors shall be responsible for identifying the


competencies and training needs of the employees should possess in performing their tasks
safely such as operating machines and handling of materials and equipment.

o Training programs may be derived from several sources such as the following:

 From Department Manager’s Recommendation –

 From the Hazards and Risk Register –

 From requests –

 New Employee Orientation

All newly hired employees shall undergo new employee orientation conducted by the Human
Resource Department before starting to their appointed jobs. The new employee orientation
shall include topics about Occupational Health and Safety and its activities and their roles
affecting their health and safety. New employee orientation records shall be maintained by the
Human Resource department attached on the employee records.

 Awareness and training programs

o Philips Wire & Cable Co. provides and supports the company wide and departmental training
and awareness programs related with the Occupational Safety and Health of employees. Job
safety trainings may include:

 Occupational Health training

 Occupational Safety training

 External Trainings

 Skills evaluation and training

 First Aid

 Accident/Incident Investigation

 Fire Safety training

 Safe work procedures

 Environmental awareness

 Training Effectiveness

o Effectiveness of trainings related to Occupational Safety and Health is evaluated using the
following approaches:

 If hazard and risk are avoided by the employees


 From performance evaluation of the trained employees

 Training Records

o Training records shall be kept and maintained by the Human Resource Department.
