RAJIV GANDHI GRAMIN NIWARA YOJANA

Housing Department of Govt. of Maharashtra has resolved vide G.R. no.


Øãðãä¶ã£ããñ-2005/ ¹ãÆ.‰ãŠ. 24/ Øãðãä¶ã£ããñ-1 ãäª. 29.11.2005,
to implement Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Niwara Yojana in rural areas of 33 districts of the
State excluding Mumbai city & Mumbai Suburb district. Rajiv Gandhi Gramin
Niwara Yojana no. 1 is for “Below Poverty Line” peoples and Rajiv Gandhi Gramin
Niwara Yojana no. 2 is for “Above Poverty Line” peoples/ homeless/ petty
landowners.
Scheme is to be implemented in rural areas at the level of Grampanchayat and
the same will be under control of Chief Executive Officer of Zilha Parishad. Govt. has
constituted District Housing Committees for implementation of this scheme under the
Chairmanship of Guardian Minister of the District and CEO of ZP is the member
secretary.

Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Niwara Yojana no. 1:- This scheme is to be


implemented in rural areas of 33 districts of Maharashtra for BPL category peoples.
Under this scheme it is decided to construct 51,510 houses with cost of Rs. 28,500/-
per house. These houses are to be provided to the BPL beneficiaries free of cost.
GOM has released Rs.146.51 Cr. as a subsidy till March 2010. Expenditure of
Rs. 144.614 Cr. has been incurred. 50833 beneficiaries have been benefited till today.
46720 houses are completed.

Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Niwara Yojana no. 2:- This scheme is also to be
implemented in rural areas of 33 districts of Maharashtra for APL category peoples/
homeless/ petty landowners. Under this scheme it is decided to construct 50,000
houses with cost of Rs. 50,000/- per house. Eligible beneficiary will have to contribute
Rs. 5,000/- in the form of money/ building material/ manpower and the balance
amount of Rs. 45,000/- will have to be borne by beneficiary by way of house loan
from any financial institution. Interest on this house loan will be paid by the GOM and
hence this loan is interest free.
Revised Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Niwara Yojana no. 2:-
This scheme is also to be implemented in rural areas of 33 districts of
Maharashtra for APL category peoples/ homeless/ petty landowners. Under this
scheme it is decided to construct 1,25,000 houses with cost of Rs.1,00,000/- per house.
Eligible beneficiary will have to contribute Rs10,000/- in the form of money/ building
material/ manpower and the balance amount of Rs. 90,000/- will have to be borne by
beneficiary by way of house loan from any financial institution. Interest on this house
loan will be paid by Mhada as a representative of GOM and hence this loan is interest
free
