Foreword
It is hard to believe that we are once again celebrating the final results of the
International Property Awards and the success of its World’s Best winners. Over
the course of the last 17 years, these awards have become regarded as the
definitive awards programme for identifying, highlighting and rewarding excellence
throughout the global property industry.

The awards’ process was conceived to enable winners to increase their profile
within an increasingly competitive market. It was also designed to help them
broaden their appeal and reach new clients at an international level. We promoted Chairman of Judges
this aspect even further in 2010 by the introduction of networking events and Helen Shield
exhibitions held at each of the gala presentation dinners. These events provide an Editor-in-Chief,
ideal platform for exhibitors to showcase their developments and services while International Property Luxury
Collection Magazine
representatives from award winning companies converge from all over the world
to form new business links.

The year’s gala presentation dinners, which were held in Hong Kong, Dubai and
London, also saw an increasing number of high profile guests. These included
ambassadors and high commissioners who attended in support of winners from
their respective countries.

Entries increased for each region yet again this year with many countries taking
part for the first time such as Kazakhstan, Taiwan, Norway, Namibia, Mozambique
and Latvia. A large percentage of the selection process was executed by our
judging panel at the London offices of our headline sponsor Bloomberg Television.
The remainder was outsourced to leading experts throughout the world.

Those winning the ultimate World’s Best titles have had their expertise in
innovation, creativity, design, originality, levels of service and marketing tested to the
highest degree. They can now display the prestigious award winners’ logo with
justifiable pride on their website and marketing material and reap the benefits of
heightened international exposure.

modest economic growth in the more
mature countries and stronger growth in
Asia-Pacific, CB Richard Ellis experienced
revenue growth of 23 per cent;
Performance in Q4 was particularly
impressive, with revenue growth of 27
per cent. This increase was broad-based
with nearly every global business line
experiencing double-digit growth,
reflecting the well-balanced portfolio of
businesses built by CB Richard Ellis to
meet the needs of clients across
market cycles.
The real estate market faced the
toughest market conditions in
generations during 2009, but despite a
turbulent economic background CB
Richard Ellis reacted positively by
deploying a diversification strategy. We
expanded our offering to incorporate
new services such as debt advisory and
loan and corporate recovery, to help
our clients seek innovative funding
solutions and to assist banks in identifying
ways to extract returns from their real

homes across the globe, and whether it

 Winning is sweet
Sugar Beach is situated between the Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the south west coast of St Lucia.
Currently known as the Jalousie Plantation, the resort is undergoing a major $100 refurbishment that will encompass all
aspects of the hotel. When completed, it will comprise 64 luxury villas, 42 residences and exceptional facilities including
two white sand beaches, a rainforest spa and a variety of restaurants and bars. The resort is owned by Roger Myers, the
founder of Punch Taverns which developed hugely successful restaurants such as Café Rouge. He now lives in St Lucia
and is entirely focused on the development of Sugar Beach.

‘‘ St Lucia is an increasingly popular

destination for luxury travellers from
across the world, some of whom prefer
to rent a luxury home rather than staying
in a hotel. Demand outstrips the supply
of these types of properties on the island
and any existing properties of this calibre
are reserved far in advance, throughout
the year.
Award winning Sugar Beach is
currently the best development in the
Caribbean and arguably the world. The
Naomi Cambridge setting, the properties, the facilities and
Sales Director the people who live and work here make
it a truly unusual and wonderful place.
Throughout the Caribbean motivated
sellers have been discounting. Only the
most exclusive developments in great
Sugar Beach in St Lucia, and one-of-a-kind
high-end homes, such as Lyford Cay in
the Bahamas, have held their prices. The
tough economic climate has resulted in
fewer buyers who are extremely savvy
and are not prepared to accept second
rate sites without secure financing. Many
have removed their money from the
stock market and the banks and see one-
of-a-kind real estate as the only safe place
for their money.
Recent lead reports indicate a strong
interest in the residences from the UK
(40%) and USA/Canadian markets (33%).
Europe follows closely with 16% of
enquiries whilst the rest of the world
(including Hong Kong, Monaco and the
Seychelles) stands at 11% of enquiries in

locations with sound backing, such as the last couple of months.

The overall inspiration for the
interiors was taken from the dramatic
and diverse landscapes of the Gulf

The curvilinear shape of the
building naturally dictated the unusual
and uniquely formed interior spaces,
with wonderful volume and full height
glazing adding to the grandeur of the
public areas. More than 200 custom-
designed, awe inspiring chandeliers, using
over half a million crystal beads, glass
shards and blown glass droplets add a
theatrical ambience to the elegantly
glamorous interiors.

to hand selected rich and opulent fabrics;
