Objectives
The Ethics in Finance - Robin Cosgrove Prize aims to encourage and
promote: (a) Awareness of the fundamental role of ethics in the world of finance; (b)
Precise identification of ethical issues in financial activities and institutions, in both
the public and private sectors; (c) Implementation of initiatives and projects
concerning teaching and legislating for ethics in finance.
Candidates are invited to submit written papers that have not been previously
published that examine the role of ethics in finance, especially taking account of the
three aspects of the question mentioned above. The papers could be analytical in
character or they could be proposals for practical projects. In all cases, they should
meet three criteria: intellectual rigour, innovative ideas, and clear conclusions. The
maximum permitted length of the papers is 5,000 words or up to 30,000 characters,
including spaces and annexes.
Jury
The Jury has been delegated by the Organisers with the task of selecting the
most meritorious contributions from the eligible candidates and of designating the
prizewinners.
The Jury is composed of eminent persons who sit in their private capacity on a
pro bono basis. The members of the Jury are also active in financial institutions as
well as in the academic world, the media, non-governmental organisations, and
regulatory agencies.
The Jury will deal with the papers on an anonymous and confidential basis.
The Jury will work in two stages: first, it will select a restricted number of contributions
to be nominated for the Prize, and secondly it will designate one or more
prizewinners and allocate the sum of USD20,000 between them.
Decisions of the Jury are definitive and no appeal will be permitted. The Jury's
methodology remains confidential and will not be divulged.
The Jury reserves the right not to award the Prize.
