Universal Design for Learning (UDL): After students watch the tutorial video and take the quiz, there are
options to make-a map where students are able to create a food chain. This will allow students to further
their understanding and time while other students are finishing the quiz.
Lesson idea implementation: Students will be discovering the subject on life cycles all by themselves. I will
start the lesson by asking the students about what they know about life cycles. I will use an example such as a
butterfly. This lesson will take around 10- 20 minutes.
On BrainPop, students are able to join a classroom and take quizzes. The students grade will be reported and
sent to the teachers account. Students will have the opportunity to complete a mapping activity in while on
the website. There are also other options for students who can learn by playing games. Students will use the
knowledge that is gathered by the video and by the games to experiment. We as a class can get a butterfly

garden for our classroom so students can see what they learn in the classroom. Once the student’s work is
completed on the computers, the class can come together to go over all the things that they learned from the
video. When the report has been sent which is automatically, I can see what spot the students are at. If they
are struggling and failed the quiz, I would allow them to re-watch the video and try again.
Reflective Practice:
Students will be able to use their resources in a way that they did not before. After this activity, I would be
comfortable to allow students to research other videos on Brain Pop and allow them to find a topic that
interest them. This could be a way to go through some things independently and allow for students to do this
for the science portion of the day. I would also add experiments to go with what they were learning. Some
other technology that I can use is iPads and QR codes for the students to go through the steps of life cycles as
different centers.
