DOSA Basketball Clinic: Written Feedback – Zak Rivzi

7/27/14 – Friday – OFFENSE DAY

(Dribbling)

Things to Address:
[X] Eyes Up
[] Spread fingers
[x] Dribbling Low
[X] Guard Hand
[x] Non-Dominant Hand
[] Confidence in change of direction
[] Enthusiasm

Notes:
Zak was a joy to coach with his great energy and enthusiasm with every drill he
participated in today. Zak showed a decent handle with his right hand but can look
to further improve it as well as his non-dominant hand to become a more effective
player. To accomplish this he must get lower with his dribble by bending his knees
and opening up his hips. Zak should also practice dribbling with his head up so he
can see the floor better. Early in the game, Zak showed he was a very willing passer
and was constantly looking for teammates but unfortunately had the ball stolen a
few times since he did not see the floor as well as he could have.

(Dirk Nowitzki Shooting Drills)

Things to Address:
[x] Balance
[] Strong Core
[] Strength
[] Touch
[] Footwork
[x] Technique
[x] Spread Fingers
[x] Confidence
[] Enthusiasm

Notes:
Zak has the tools and potential to become a good shooter if he adjusts his approach.
Zak has a very soft touch and a high arc on his shot, which is key to becoming an
effective shooter. Unfortunately, he is inconsistent with the most vital component of
shooting, “onfidence”. During the shooting competition, Zak would make 3-5 shots
in a row then hit a cold streak. When the opportunity arose for him to make the
game winner, he stepped up and made the shot. When he shows confidence in his
shot, he is a good shooter. Zak should envision that every shot he takes is going in
and that he is a great shooter. If he learns to identify the form on his shot and
replicate this form on makes, he will become a more consistent shooter.

(Driving Series Moves)

[] Footwork
[] Direction
[x] Knowing when to use a move

Notes:

Zak excelled in making moves today. Zak was able to effectively use his pivot and
was consistent when finishing with his right hand. During games he scored the most
points and was able to frequently get to the basket. In order to make the next step as
a player he must learn how to use his left hand.

Zak cited before games that he is a post a player and the paint is the area he excels
in. I feel if Zak challenges himself by becoming a better handler and becoming more
consistent with his shooting he can become a good wing player. To achieve this goal,
he should try to dribble the ball everyday for 20 mins and confidently shoot set
shots with the form we talked about for 30 minutes. We look forward to seeing his
development as a player over the next few weeks.

Great Job Zak!
