TASK 2

2.1

1. Prepare a flowchart that shows the steps

involved in documenting an Inspection and
Test Plan (ITP).
A flowchart of Inspection and Test Plan highlights the requirements that are essential
for making a construction plansuccessfully. In this context, it is required to follow the steps
systematically as at first the materials are required for describing the process such as
welding. After that specific activities should be mentioned such as checking the
certificate of the materials, checking the dimensional process, checking the welding
electrode and jointing the fit ups. Then followed by this structure, procedure of the flow
chart explains the process of conducting the plan for making its successful (Ahola et
al. 2014, p.1321). In addition to this, it is also very important to focus on the
acceptance criteria of the materials. Then the most important thing is to highlight the
key points that are the hold points and surveillance of the supplier and clients
respectively.

Here, in this case hold point refers to an activity that puts a hold on the construction
inspection level until and unless the plan is passed. Hold points are important for
making critical inspections in order to make a concrete verification. Review stands for
the revision of the plan made by the construction company. This review is done by the
customers in order to input their opinion as per requirement (Boud et al. 2014, p.66).
Witness refers to an activity that is done in order to verify the current plan and keep a
copy or record. Finally, spot witness is a term that means to witness the activities being
present in the site or spot.

3. Prepare a single page summary that

explains the use of an ITP as a monitoring
tool.
Inspection Test Plan (ITP) can be used as a monitoring tool as it helps in setting out the
critical controls of the ponuts, hold pints and other necessary stages. It works as a
monitoring tool that enhances better services, good incorporation of materials and high
product quality for maintaining the need of the customers. Inspection Test Plan (ITP)
controls each point of the plan and makes it scheduled for inspection so that proper
verification is done by the customers. According to Duffield and Whitty (2015, p.311),
Inspection Test Plan (ITP) is also used a monitoring tool because it is a way to satisfy
the needs of the customers by concerning the Quality management systems ISO
10005:2006. However, in this case, it is also justified that ITP plays the role for
monitoring as it helps the customers to review the plan and incorporate their own ideas
if required. ITP tool works as a monitoring tool for the construction company like ABC
because it helps in witnessing the activities accurately and concretely.

It also works as a monitoring tool because it helps in planning and checking the
required and collect data through the process of verification. Hold points, spot witness
and witness all are the key terms that are essential for maintaining the ITP a concrete
flow chart for the companies. Different key points like H, R, SW and W help in
specifying the proper objective of the plan. The different elements and performance
criteria maintained by ABC Construction Company are developing and maintain good
quality framework in order to distribute information by focusing on ITP. ABC Company
also enhances the maintenance of quality documentation processes in order to identify
the required data for controlling the systems in ITP. This company also provides
training to the employees for improving their efficiency and affectivity (Mir and
Pinnington, 2014, p.202). Moreover, this company also optimises the report
performance of the services in order to make it authentic and satisfying the customers.
ABC Construction Company also evaluates the relevant components of their systems in
order to increase its quality and service assurance with respect to ITP.

2.2
1. Discuss each of the following:
 The measurement tool used to determine the success of this element
In this context, Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 10005:2006 is a major tool to
determine the success of the elements of Inspection Test Plan (ITP). In addition to this,
survey tool also can be used for determining the success of ITP (Müller et al. 2013,
p.59). In survey tool, it focuses on the interview procedure of facility manager,
supervisor, workers and technicians in order to observe the success criteria. Quality
Management System (QMS) is a major factor for identifying the success criteria of ITP.
 The process used to identify possible causes of unsatisfactory results
In this context, the processes that are required to identify the unsatisfactory causes are
feedback programming, collecting opinions from the customers and quality management
systems. Quality Management System (QMS) helps in identifying these elements by focusing
on its tools and methods for implementation of proper ideas and technologies in the
operations (Ipaustralia.gov.au, 2017).
 Actions to improve the performance for this key element
The actions that are necessary for the improvement of the performance of the ITP are
proper review of the plan, verification and development in specific areas. The actions
involve in this process are inspection test form, initial assessment and configuration of
the management procedure. As per Pemsel and Wiewiora (2013, p.31), the main actions that
are required to improve the ITP are proper planning of the project that includes
test management systems, responsibilities and estimation of financial growth.
Prepare a one page report on how the lessons
which have been learned during the given
construction project can be identified and
documented for inclusion in future projects.
The ITP systems are used for monitoring the processes that are undergone for the
development of the construction of the companies. As per Schwalbe (2015, p.78), the
systematic analysis of the elements made by ITP during the process of their innovation
and verification helps in proper managing the business operations with respect to Quality
Management System (QMS). Quality Management System (QMS) is a type of process that helps in
monitoring, verifying and maintaining the service quality of the operations (Too and
Weaver, 2014, p.1382). This present study draws the attention of the readers towards
the systematic approach of the IPT and Quality Management System (QMS) in order to
build success criteria of the construction company like ABC. Hence, it focuses on the
elements, processes, activities, systems and techniques for addressing its high quality.

TASK 3
1. Give three examples of how an organisation can benefit
from having a Quality Management System (QMS).
Among all the principles the three major examples that can benefit the growth of
the business organisations are strength, adaptability, leadership qualities. Quality Management
System (QMS) also helps in continuous improvement of the organisations. The three
examples that focus on the principles as well as on the beneficial steps of Quality
Management System (QMS) are strength, adaptability and leadership qualities
(Ipaustralia.gov.au, 2017). The principles of Quality Management System (QMS) are
necessary for improving the quality of organisations. The principles focus on the
demand of the customers so that it enhances productivity. Leadership qualities improve
the functioning of the ABC Construction Company (Training.gov.au, 2017). Involvement
of large number of people helps in strengthening the service status of the organisation.
Better quality approaches helps in managing the systems and functions efficiently in
order to increase the adaptability and competitive positioning of the organisation.
Who are the stakeholders that should have input
into determining quality objectives and why?
The stakeholders of Quality Management System (QMS) are known as the people who
interact with the business operation systems such as employees, customers and
shareholders. In other words, employees, customers and shareholders are called the
stakeholders of Quality Management System (QMS) as they interact with the business
systems in some way or the other. The role of the stakeholders in Quality Management
System (QMS) is to maintain the objectives of business operations and determining good quality
functions in their systems. As per Turner (2016, p.64), the quality requirements
of Quality Management System (QMS) focus on the meeting with the customers in order to
satisfy their needs and demands. Stakeholders such as employees play the role of
enhancing the strategic direction of the organisation in order to determine the quality
objectives of the organisations. Stakeholder’s role helps in improving customer
satisfaction, enhancing job requirements and improving large productivity. Customers
play the role of increasing the reputation of the ABC Construction Company.

3. Describe how you could implement

quality control.
As a construction supervisor of ABC Construction Company, in order to implement quality
control in Quality Management System (QMS), it is necessary to focus on the
management functions and change it as per requirement. Secondly, it is also essential
to build up a quality management framework following the functions and implications of
Quality Management System (QMS). It is the best way to implement quality control in
organisations (Qi and Chen, 2014, p.321). Quality management framework consists of
management commitments, customer satisfaction level and policy development
program. In addition to this, proper planning for business organisations like ABC
Construction Company in order to improve their provisions is required for implementing
control. Moreover, in order to implement quality control, it is also required to increase
the responsibilities and communication systems in order to manage the service
management programs. Furthermore, in order to implement quality control it is also
necessary to focus on the feedbacks, survey and monitoring processes.

4. Give a brief explanation of the quality

management methods, techniques or tools
that you selected
As a construction supervisor of ABC Construction Company, in order to highlight the
methods, tools and techniques of Quality Management System (QMS), it is necessary to focus
on the applications of quality assurance. Applications of quality assurance consist of a
very interactive tool known as Total Quality Management (TQM) that works as a
philosophy management tool for improving the structure of the organisation. TQM have
several functions such as cross functional product design, supplier quality management
systems and customer involvement. Methods of Quality Management System (QMS)
include, checking of flowcharts, check sheets and visualise the pareto charts
(Ipaustralia.gov.au, 2017). In this case quality assurance is also necessary to highlight
the techniques of Quality Management System (QMS) such as institutional projects that
consist of counselling and evaluation. Submission and approval consists of quality
assurance activity which helps in better innovation and implementation.

5. What are the benefits of a site specific

QMS?
The benefits of site specific Quality Management System (QMS) highlights the specific
requirements of the organisations like ABC Construction Company. Hence, it is
necessary for this company to have efficient management systems for controlling site
specific management of Quality Management System (QMS). The importance of site
specific QMS is choice of different customers, adaptability varies from one place to
another and market analysis also plays a crucial role in this context. Hence, for
adapting site specific QMS it is necessary to implement the functions and
infrastructures of Quality Management System (QMS) (Ipaustralia.gov.au, 2017). In ABC
Construction Company, it is necessary for them to incorporate the health and safety
issues for the employees as they can fall down and that is risk factors for them, on the
other hand, job satisfaction for the employees and customers is also very essential in
this regard to analyse the site specific functions of QMS. Moreover site specific QMS
ensures high productivity and employee satisfaction as Quality would lead to high
productivity.

6. Give three examples of legislation or

national standards that apply to a QMS
The three examples of legislations that are applicable for Quality Management System
(QMS) are

 Privacy Act 1988

 Health and Safety Act 2011
 Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013
In addition to this, National standards policies that are applicable in this context
highlight ISO 9001. In ISO 9001:2015 it specifies the elements and requirements
of Quality Management System (QMS) in which data management systems, internal
processes, improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction is incorporated
(Ipaustralia.gov.au, 2017).

7. What are the key benefits to reviewing a

QMS?
 Achieving international recognition
 Boosting the employee morale
 Ensuring customer satisfaction (Qi and Chen, 2014, p.321)
 Increasing efficiency
 Improvement processes

8. Describe two processes for identifying

the causes of unsatisfactory results when
reviewing a QMS
The two processes are

 Monitoring
 Collecting feedbacks
As per Pemsel and Wiewiora (2013, p.31), in order to highlight the review results of
identifying the unsatisfactory causes it is essential to monitor the activities specifically
and collect feedback for better opportunities in future.
