Reflection Questions:

1. Which data set did you select and why did you choose it? Summarize the data included,
being specific about the types of data (text, sounds, transactions, etc.) included. Make
sure you list the title and the website where you found the data.
1. I decided to use the data from the Global Terrorism Base from the University of
Maryland. I chose to use this information because it exceeded the required
number of cells and I thought it would be an interesting topic. The data includes a
lot of information from terrorist attacks between the years of 2013-2016, such as
the location, weapons used, whether they were successful, etc. Most of the data
consisted of categorical data, but there were some that were binomial.

2. List your 3-5 hypotheses and the data visualizations that you created for each. (Include
the visualizations as images on your portfolio or provide a link to your Fusiontable,
shared with your instructor.)
1. If the planned attack was bombing, then the attack was usually successful.
1. My conclusion is that my hypothesis was correct. Over 25,000 attacks
using bombs/explosives were successful.

2. Most of the attacks that occurred were bombings/explosions.

1. My conclusion is that my hypothesis was correct. About 30,000 attempted
attacks used bombs or some other type of explosive.

3. If there was an attempted attack in Afghanistan, then the targeted group was
terrorists
1. My hypothesis was incorrect. The most targeted group in Afghanistan
were the police. Over 2,000 of the attacks targeted the police.

3. Explain how collaborating with a partner helped you gain new insight or knowledge
about the data.
1. I did not work with a partner.
4. Identify at least one security and/or privacy concern that is associated with the data in the
data set you chose.
1. A terrorist organization could look at this data set and determine what the best
method of terror is (using bombs) and can also determine where the best location
is to pull off an attack.
