To Whom It May Concern,
I'm writing this letter on behalf of Adriana Mancilla. I have had the opportunity to observe and interact
with Adriana in my capacity as a Lecturer and Student Teacher Supervisor at University of California
Irvine, She has been a student in two of my graduate courses in the Multiple Subject Credential program
and I supervised her fourth grade student teaching assignment at a project based learning school
Adriana creates and maintains a positive environment for her fourth grade students. She develops clear
expectations and uses a variety of strategies to support student behavior. Her students respond well to her
and mutual respect is evident. Adriana plans instruction and designs learning experiences to meet a variety
of student needs in her classroom. She understands California State Standards and makes the content of the
standards accessible to her students using a variety of effective strategies including partner shares, analyzing
and comparing representations, and using graphic organizers. In one recent math lesson, Adriana
anticipated student strategies, monitored student progress as they problem solved, and strategically selected
strategies to share to build mathematical understandings. Adriana has implemented many of the strategies
she learned in her coursework and from her mentor teacher including the use of teacher questioning and
using tasks that make student thinking visible.
Through my role as her student teaching supervisor, | observed Adriana reflect on her teaching and student
understanding as she considered the ranging levels of her students and how to meet their varying needs.
She’s highly engaged with her students and has an understanding of their knowledge, skills, and needs. She
is able to apply this knowledge to instruction as her lessons are well planned and prepared and the content is
presented in a logical manner. She has a good rapport with students and colleagues and will be an asset to
any school. Fee! free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jody Guarino, Ed.D.
