Typically, equipment is delivered pre-installed.


It may be necessary to update the software of the Nemo Handy-A solution
when a new version is made available by Anite / Nemo.

To perform this update, two methods can be used:


 Connect the mobile to PC
 Download Software Nemo Handy-A from Nemo User Club

before any update it is necessary to uninstall the previous version.

Before any updated software, it is recommended to contact the Anite /


Nemo support (nemosupport@anite.com) to check the compatibility of
the new SW with your equipment.

Uninstall of Nemo Handy-A SW :


• Uninstall the old Handy version by going to Apps | Settings | More | Application
Manager and tapping Uninstall , then press ok to confirm the uninstall

• Connect the USB cable to the Nemo Handy mobile and to the computer where you
have the Nemo Handy installation files
• If the terminal does not appear in the list of removable devices in Windows
Explorer, perform the following settings:
• On the device, press the icon (1)
• Enter the code * # 7284 # or * # 0808 # (2) depending on the model
• USB Setting (3): USB -> AP USB Settings -> MTP + ADB and confirm with OK and
Reboot

Loading Software via a PC


In Windows Explorer, access the device memory

• Go to the "Nemo" directory and copy the installation file (* .apk)

• Once copying is finished, disconnect the device from the PC

• Go to the Login section and fill in your username and password

Software Installation
• The software is then downloaded into the terminal
• Go to the directory My Files / Download and launch the application
• Confirm with Next and Install
• Once installation is complete, validate Open

• At startup, Nemo Handy-A request access Superuser
• Click on "Remember choice forever" and confirm by Allow
• Then Nemo Handy-A request to validate the license
• After charging the license, the Start page appears and the tool requires a
device reboot

License Management

• During a software update, new features are available.

• Some options are provided standard with the new software, others may
be paying options (eg Voice Quality Measurement).

• The license update is OTA (Over The Air) directly from the app Nemo
Handy-A
• The device connects via the mobile network (3G / LTE) or via Wi-Fi Nemo
license server.

• The server transfer the new license to your device.

Backlight Option defines the brightness of the backlight.

Call answer delay Option allows you to define the delay in milliseconds before answering
an incoming call.

Use dialer for calls Option allows using the inbuilt Android phone dialer. The Dialer enables
sending DTMF tones and using for example a Bluetooth headset to hear
the audio while performing voice call testing with Handy.

Active WiFi scanning activates/deactivates WiFi scanning

Enable MMS testing option enables MMS testing

Send crash reports if selected Handy will send crash reports

Phone number defines the phone number of the Nemo Handy-A terminal

Import/export settings option enables importing and exporting settings

Screenshot format Defines in which format (.pgn or .jpg) the captured screenshot will be
saved.

Log file prefix allows you to define your own prefix for log file name

Measurement File Defines the file format used in measurements. The file format options
Format are Measurement file (.nmf, default) and Debuglog (.nbl

Autologging option is selected, Nemo Handy-A will start logging when a script is
started and stop logging when the script is finished

Log file splitting Option allows you to split the log files into manageable sized files
instead of having one large file

Measurement upload allows you to save connection settings into configurations that can be
used when uploading files on a server

Questionnaire Allows defining when a questionnaire is displayed. You can choose to


show it when a measurement is started, paused, resumed, or stopped

Background logging when activated, enables idle logging with Nemo Handy
(OFF/ON),

IP capture option activates/deactivates IP packet capturing

IP capture max packet defines how many bytes to capture from each packet
size

IP capture filter option defines whether captured packets are filtered

IP capture filter rules allows you to define IP capture filter rules.

Device Label allows naming the device

Initial marker when selected, a dialog will be displayed when logging begins, in which
the user can define a measurement description

Predefined marker allows user to define the marker before starting logging

Prefix Defines a prefix written to all measurement files made by the server. Prefix cannot
contain spaces or special characters.

Sample filename The name of the voice sample

Call Receive Timeout Defines how long (in seconds) the server waits for a call to connect before ending the
(sec) call

Call duration (sec) Defines the duration (in seconds) of the call

MOS threshold Can be used to limit the number of samples saved to the server. For example, only
samples with a MOS score below 3 are save

Save sample Defines whether samples falling below MOS threshold are saved or not.

Enable PESQ Defines whether MOS values are calculated using PESQ.

• Nemo Handy will automatically search (Over-The-Air) if a new version is
available => need a data connection
• If you do not wish Nemo Handy to check if there is a new version
available at every startup, disable Check at Startup in the OTA updates
settings (Menu | Settings | Settings | OTA updates).

BTS file Selects the BTS file to use. The BTS file must be saved in nbf
or csv format on file (phone / Nemo / Air Walker / BTS)

• With Nemo Handy you can view BTS icons on a map. Open a map and go
to Menu ( ) )| Settings | Settings | BTS. Activate Show BTS and define the
color for active system BTS icons, other BTS icons, and
active cell.

Some rules for scripts:
• For scripts that concern the transmission of data (HTTP and FTP transfer,
HTML browsing, ping, Iperf, ...), it is necessary to initiate a packet session
(Packet session)
• When writing the script, the terminal provides for each of the selected
actions, a beginning and an end action

When the script is finished, the terminal allows to check the


syntax.

For this, we use the Forcing function.

4 types of forcing :
 System (GSM, 3G, LTE)
 On Frequency band (GSM900, UMTS2100 ...)
 Canal (3G only)
 Voice Codec (GSM AMR FR, GSM AMR HR ...)

General: It is recommended to turn off and restart the


mobile to force on a band or a system

• the Indoor measurements are available on the


Map view. It is necessary to import a map Indoor
(floorplan) in picture format(.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png
and).
• Transfer the image file in the folder :
phone / Nemo / Air Walker / Maps
• It is also possible to photograph a map (eg
evacuation plan)
• The indoor measurements are made by placing
the measurement points (marker) when you
moves inside a building.

Before starting an indoor measurement, you must first load a map (jpg or
iBwave format).
Go to :
Menu  Settings…  Setting  Indoor  Floorplans
 For a plan with format jpg

 For a plan with format IBwave

Note : When you add a map in image format, Nemo Handy-A will
automatically genere a MapInfo file (.tab) based on the image file.

• Load the floor plan in the terminal and make it visible on the
screen
• Make a tracking area and prepare the route measure
• Start measurement at the beginning of the course

• Move the map and position to put a marker in the right place,
at every change of direction
• In case of pause (static position) is prolonged , add a new
marker at the same location before continuing the journey

Distributed antenna systems (DAS)
This feature requires an additional license (Advanced Indoor Analysis)
The DAS option allow to see the antennas micro cells and check if the antennas
transmit or not by using iBwave plans or the BTS line. A visual notification (red / green)
is displayed on the map.
Enable DAS option in : Menu | Settings | Settings | Indoor | DAS anomalies.

Activate Show BTS, then set the color for serving cells, the active BTS etc.
During measurement, the cell where the mobile is connected is highlighted
