Music Education

• Developed, planned and integrated culturally responsive music curriculum to meet the needs of
individual students and whole groups from a variety of backgrounds.

• Increased musical skills, showing over 2 years of growth per year through assessment data.

• Raised over $15,000 in the last 18 months for the music program and school through grants and
community partnerships.

• Established an annual musical theater performance in cooperation with other teachers, parents
and volunteers from local community groups.

• Coordinated field trips giving the students the opportunity to perform in various community
settings, and also brought in local artists to perform in the school.

• Became one of the highest-ranked teachers in the state in the groundbreaking teacher portfolio
evaluation system.

• Relevant coursework in the application of instructional methods including Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze,
Gordon, Suzuki, Reimer and others.

Choral/Performance

• Over 15 years of experience directing small and large vocal ensembles of all ages.

• Directed the Adult Choir and Praise Team of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, managed the
volunteer leaders of the children’s choirs, and recruited and scheduled special musicians for
services throughout the year.

• Directed the choir of Levi Elementary, growing participation from under 10 to over 75 students.

• Directed the mass choir for Michael W. Smith’s “New Hallelujah” tour in Reading, PA.

Curriculum Development

• Pioneered new standards in the state of Tennessee, and advocated for creativity-driven music
education reform.

• Arranged curricula for Shelby County Schools in which all objectives align with the college and
career ready standards described in Common Core.

• Developed curriculum for the IRIS Orchestra in their partnership with local schools as part of the
Memphis Music Initiative.

• Commissioned to write music curriculum for all ages and musical subjects for UNO Charter
Schools in the Chicago area.

• Strong record of meeting all deadlines; received bonuses for finishing projects early.
