Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. Identify software manufacturing instructions in creating a portable
bootable device.
2. Discuss software utilization guide and end user agreement in preparing
customized installers.
3. Discuss software user guide and software license agreement in installing
portable application.
Definition:
The most commonly used boot device or boot drive is the hard drive.
When an operating system such as Microsoft Windows installed onto
the hard drive it copies the boot files and drivers required to load
Windows on the computer. When installing a new operating system,
troubleshooting the computer, or booting from another drive such as
the CD-ROM drive, a bootable disc or setup disc is inserted into the
drive. If the boot sequence is setup properly in CMOS setup and the
bootable disc is inserted the computer it will load from the disc
instead of the hard drive.
Another boot device is the USB flash drive. Booting from removable
media such as a USB drive allows you to perform diagnostics on a computer
that is having trouble booting from the hard drive. You can also use the
flash drive to install Windows, instead of using the Windows installation CD.
This guide will outline making a bootable USB flash drive with
Windows XP , V ista, or 7. Before we begin, it is important to note that the
computer you want to use your bootable USB drive must be able to use a
USB drive as a boot device. Most computers built since Windows Vista was
released are capable of booting to a USB device. Prior to the Windows Vista
time frame, it's hit or miss with motherboards.
o System Requirements:
Windows XP or later, 32 or 64 bit doesn't matter. Once downloaded, the
application is ready to use.
o Usage
- Download the executable and run it – no installation is necessary.
- The executable is digitally signed and the signature should state:
- "Akeo Consulting" (v1.3.0 or later)
- "Pete Batard - Open Source Developer" (v1.2.0 or earlier)
o Other versions
- Source Code
- Rufus 1.4.10 (1.8 MB)
- Alternatively, you can clone the git repository using:
- $ git clone git://github.com/pbatard/rufus
Definition:
A portable application (portable app), sometimes also called
standalone, is a program designed to read and write its configuration
settings into an accessible folder in the computer, usually the folder where
the portable application can be found. This makes it easier to transfer the
program with the user's preferences and data between different computers.
A program that doesn't have any configuration options is also a
portable application. Like any application, portable applications must be
compatible with the computer system hardware and operating system
Portable applications can be stored on any data storage device,
including internal mass storage, a file share, cloud storage or external
storage such as USB drives and floppy disks—storing its program files and
any configuration information and data on the storage medium alone. If no
configuration information is required a portable program can be run from
read-only storage such as CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs.
Some applications are available in both installable and portable
versions, one of this is Rufus as discussed earlier.

software.
3. Rufus is produced in a 100% transparent manner, from its public source,
using a MinGW32 environment.
4. Unless the necessary boot files are stored on the drive, diskette, or disc
the computer will not be able to boot from that device.

Steps/Procedure:
To create a customize portable bootable USB drive installer from a downloaded ISO
file, the following should be prepared in accordance with software manufacturer
instructions:
2. Prepare ISO file to be extracted into portable bootable installer. ISO file can be
downloaded to this website http://www.unveiltech.com/download.php
See sample.
Note: Warning is shown “ALL DATA ON DEVICE (your flash drive) WILL BE
DESTROYED.
For your safety make sure you have save your file before using your flash
drive as bootable device.
Example: Windows 10 Disc Image File size 3, 255, 232 KB, flash drive
should be greater than this like 4Gigabytes capacity.
o Plugging USB flash drive must be automatically detected as storage device
without loading special drivers.
To determine if a computer is capable of booting to a USB device, access the
computer's BIOS and check the bootable device list. If a USB device is listed, set the
USB drive to be the first boot device. If you do not see a USB device in the list of
bootable devices, your BIOS is not capable of booting to a USB device.
Note: You may need to have your USB flash drive plugged in when you
access the BIOS).

failure training.
Executive Summary
The training started on June 21, 2017 to July 25, 2017 with the
twenty (24) trainees attended and passed the training program. The
objective of this training is to develop the knowledge, attitude and skills to
be able to acquire the competencies of COMPUTER SYSTEMS SERVICING
NC II.
Rationale
Pre-test and Post-test was conducted to measure the value added
effectiveness of the program. This would also test the effectiveness of the
competencies based training program if any of the areas need to be
improved.
Objectives
1. To determine if there is a significant difference in the pre-test and
post-test scores of the trainees.
2. To determine the average mean of the pre-test and post-test scores
of the trainees.
Methodology
Average mean and paired t-test was used in the analysis of the data.
This is to determine if there is a significant between the means of the pre-
test and the post-test scores of the trainees.
The graph is generated from the pre-test and post-test scores of the
trainees. The orange line represents the post-tests scores. The blue line
represents the pre-test scores. The orange line shows that it is higher than
the blue line which means that post-test scores are higher than the pre-test.
The average pre-test is equal 19.57 and 27.68 for the post-test.
The t-statistical is equal -13.10 .Since t-statistical value is lesser than 0.05,
the null hypothesis is rejected. Thereby, there is a significant difference
in the pre-test and post-test scores of the trainee.
Conclusion
As illustrated in the pre-test and post-test scores, the training format
worked well for the trainees and met the planned learning outcomes the
trainees could see the relevance of the knowledge, skills and attitude needed
in the training program to the actual work practice which was clearly
indicated by a good post test results.
Recommendation
Based on the data gathered, the following are strongly recommended:
1. Ample time should be provided for the trainees for practice.
2. Fast learners should be paired with slow learners.
3. Continue monitoring of the trainees inside (school) and outside
(industry) to better prepare them for the national assessment.
