Introduction
After Khilafat Movement M.L and Congress separated again.
The main point of contention was the issue of separate electorate. Nehru demanded suspension of separate electorate for smooth ties between the Muslims and the Hindus. Jinnah agreed but with certain conditions which were put forwarded in Delhi-Muslim Proposals. After this M.L was divided in to two parks i.e Jinnah League and Shafi League.
Proposals by Jinnah
Formation of Sindh as a separate province.
Reforms in N.W.F.P and Balochistan. Reservation of seats for Muslims in Hindu majority provinces and for Hindus in Muslim majority provinces. Muslim reperesentation in the central legislature should not be less than 1/3rd. No passing of bill if opposed by 3/4th of that particular community. All the proposals must be accepted in toto.
Reaction of Congress
Congress firstly accepted the proposal but later on rejected.
