I. Introduction
Wattpad is a place to discover and share stories: a social platform that connects people

through words. It is a community that spans borders, interests, languages. With Wattpad, anyone

can read or write on any device: phone, tablet, or computer. This online entertainment is getting

stronger and most of viewers are teens commonly students. As we all know things aren’t always

in a good influence to people. Everything has its own good side and bad side.

Wattpad is the world's largest community for discovering and sharing stories. It's a new

form of entertainment connecting readers and writers through storytelling, and best of all, it's

entirely free. With thousands of new stories added every day, an incredibly active community of

readers and the ability to read on your computer, phone, or tablet, Wattpad is the only place that

offers a truly social and entirely mobile reading experience.

What most of the students do? Well, reading for the most part. All the stories on Wattpad

are free. Readers don’t have to pay to join the site or download the app, or to read any of those

stories, which can also be read on any computer, laptop, or tablet. There is a lot of interaction on

the site too. Comments are open at the bottom of each “part” and the most popular stories

generate a lot of feedback. This site is one of the most trending sites because many students can

easily relate their life to those fictions. This study really wants the students to know what would

be the possible reason why their academic performance is high or low. All things happen because

of our decision and this site is a choice, if a person let this things control her/him, or they control

it.

Conclusion:

Therefore, as we have study, it shows that most of the respondents from College of Arts
and Sciences read wattpad. We have found out that most of the respondents reads wattpad once a
week and it also shows that on that week most of the students read wattpad for just one (1) hour.
In this study it indicates that wattpad doesn’t affect the academic performance of the students.
There are also some of the respondents academic performance has affected and also few of them
read wattpad everyday and more than 3 hours but as we can see the results only few of them has
been failed there academic performance because of reading wattpad. It also shows that most of
the respondents says that wattpad makes them lost their time for their study, but as we can see in
only 12 students have a low GPA last semester. Most of them have a good performance in their
studies and we can say that wattpad doesn’t affect their academic performance.

Recommendation:

As we have study we found out that there is positive and negative effect of wattpad to the
students. We can say that, we have to minimize our time in reading wattpad. It doesn’t say that
we must stop reading wattpad it just that we have to use our time in a good way. For example if
we have projects, we must just stop for a while and do what we must do, like bonding with
family. Sometimes we forgot that the more we commit ourselves in reading we didn’t notice that
our family and friends are slowly gone. So read wattpad for good purpose and not for bad
purpose that can harm your study.
