Significance of the study is written as part of the introduction section of a

thesis. It provides details to the reader on how the study will contribute
such as what the study will contribute and who will benefit from it. It also
includes an explanation of the work’s importance as well as its potential
benefits. It is sometimes called rationale.
Tips in Writing the Significance of the Study

1. Statement of the problem will guide you to write a significance of the

study. Based on your statement of the problem you will see the
potential benefits of your study. Just answer this question, “What are
the benefits or advantages of the study based on statement of the
problem?”
2. Determine the specific contribution of your thesis study to the society
as well as to the individual

Below is an example of significance of the study of thesis entitled,

“Development of a Source Material in Food Dehydration Craft Technology
for the Secondary Schools” by Mary Rose Florence S. Cobar.
Significance of the Study
The study of dehydration technology and fabrication can be a learning
paradigm in the secondary level and vocational schools to enhance the
students’ knowledge and entrepreneurial skills as well. The project’s goal is
designed to help students improve academic competence, develop
employability skills, implement a career plan and participate in a career
pathway in preparation for post secondary education or careers in the food
manufacturing or services sector after graduating from high school.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDYThe results of the study will be of great benefit to the following:

STUDENTS.

The results will provide the students with some knowledge on cuttingclasses and how it can be avoided.
It will give the student¶s a realization that cutting isnot useful to both the student and the people
around him. At the end of this studystudent¶s would finally know why cutting classes have been a major
problem to thesociety.
TEACHERS.

The given data would guide the teachers on what to do with the studentsthat cut classes. The teachers
would be able to understand on why some students skipclasses and later on, help them.

PARENTS.

Like the teachers, the parents too will understand why their children skipclasses through the given data.
The given data would help them formulate somepreventive measures to help their sons from skipping
classes. The findings would alsohelp them learn the actions of their children

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The scope of the study involves the time & money spent, the tools/materials andtechniques used, and
the number of personnel needed for the experiment to becompleted. The estimated time range of the
experiment from the extraction of the peelings of Dayap to the final outcome of the product ranges
from a minimum time of 4 hoursto 48 hours depending on the quantity of the oil extracted. (Maximum
of 100liters)The general budget for this experiment ranges from a minimum amount of 500pesos
(includes raw materials and equipments) to a maximum amount of 1500pesos which depends on the
amount of oil to be extracted. Equipments can bemade from other recyclable materials which can be
found on homes or to theinternational grade of equipments. The tools needed for this experiment are
source of flame (gas burners, alcoholburners, etc.), beaker, stirring rod, tongs, wire gauze, graduated
measuring cupsor graduated cylinder, pipette, stand for the beaker, spatulas, manual or mechanical
grinder, large Petri dish, evaporating dishes, funnel, tongs, and widemouth bottle. The general materials
needed are peelings of dayap and water.Techniques involve performing the correct method in order for
the laboratoryapparatuses to work according to their use and common techniques like
grinding, transferring, measuring, etc. This experiment needs human force from a minimum number of 2
– 10personnel.

Limitations of the Study

The study is limited only to the extraction of dayap peelings as an additive inperfume making. Its
limitations are those events, things, etc. that are outside of the scope of this study.

This study compile with the researchers startedlast January 3, up to March 5, 2008. Juniors andseniors
students of Cordova Academy are therespondents of this research. This research is allabout using
defense mechanism to the students. Itis stated here in the research paper about theteenagers do to
improve their self confidence.

Scope and limitation of the study

This study will focus on developing a web-based help desk system using a
problem tracking technique for Postgraduate UUM-CAS department at
UUM. This system will let users (staff, students or lecturers) to freely
interact with the technical support employees who have the ability to
answer all problems related to the postgraduate services provided by the
UUM-CAS. In addition, UUM-CAS postgraduate students can navigate
FAQ section which contains a groups of frequently asked questions that
are related to UUM-CAS Postgraduate department at UUM and they can
find their problem or inquiry there. Moreover, the proposed system will help
the students, lecturers, and staff at UUM-CAS postgraduate department to
see the latest UUM-CAS postgraduate news and articles added by the
technical support employees. The prototype to be developed is based on
problem tracking technique.
