AUTOCAD TIPS

1.) To start standard Kooheji Engineering Office Drawing

2.) Copy from the Drive X: Office Standards / KE Drafting Standards May 28, 2007 /
KE std details by Ion / Template . . .

. . . . the following files; to wit :

 KE - A2 Template

 KE Logo - latest

 KE A2 title block XREF base

3.) Place the said three files in one folder previously named ;

for example : KE R 200704 078 ( Obtain number from Agus or

Ionia )

4.) Open the file KE A2 Title Block XREF Base and edit the info on title block

5.) Then open the file KE A2 Template and edit all the other data on title block

6.) After this, rename KE A2 Template with your desired structural name ,

Say KE D 2007 005 - 001

7.) Create New Layout Tabs and rename them ( example say , Strip Footing Detail 1 )

8.) After creating the tabs, go back to model space and create layers

9.) Layers S1 – red 0.10 , S2 – yellow 0.20 , S3 green 0.30 , S4 cyan 0.40 , S5 blue
0.50,
S6 0.60.

10.) Draw using millimeters as measurement .

10.) After finished drawing in model space , go to the Layout Tab and produce viewport ,
using command MV ( indicate its corner ) and after that click model space.

11.) If the scale you want to use is 1:20 , type command “Z” ( Zoom ) and enter 1/20xp

12.) Draw text and dimensions in paper space Use layer 0 – dim or 0 – text

TO ROTATE THE MODEL VIEW INSIDE VIEWPORT

MVSETUP / ALIGN / ROTATE VIEW , Then input the angle to rotate the model view ,
Normal angle will be zero
TO IMPORT THE PLOT ASSIGNMENTS

Copy ( Cntrl + C ) the Plot Assignments from KE Standards Plot Assignments

Then Open the AutoCAD Drawing

Then Click Plot

Then Click Plot Style Table Edit Icon

Then Click Save As …

Then Paste ( Cntrl + V ) the Plot Assignments

PSLTSCALE
Type: Integer
Saved in: Drawing
Initial value: 1

Controls linetype scaling of objects displayed in paperspace viewports.

0 No special linetype scaling. Linetype dash lengths are based on the drawing units of
the space (model or paper) in which the objects were created. Scaled by the global
LTSCALE factor.

1 Viewport scaling governs linetype scaling. If TILEMODE is set to 0, dash lengths are
based on paper space drawing units, even for objects in model space. In this mode,
viewports can have varying magnifications, yet display linetypes identically. For a
specific linetype, the dash lengths of a line in a viewport are the same as the dash
lengths of a line in paper space. You can still control the dash lengths with LTSCALE

When you change PSLTSCALE or use a command such as ZOOM with PSLTSCALE set
to 1, objects in viewports are not automatically regenerated with the new linetype
scale. Use the REGEN or REGENALL command to update the linetype scales in each
viewport.

If you use 80cl , will follow pen thickness assignment depending on the color you
assign during printing

If you use Arial Narrow , same pen thickness whatever the color during printing

TEXT STYLE
Standard – can be assigned properties like for KE arialnw

Before pasting a block , change the layer and the block will follow the color and
properties of that layer ( but properties cannot be changed )
For you to later on change the properties of the block to be pasted, before
pasting this block, change the layer to 0 .

If you explode a block , the objects inside the block will retain the original color
and properties , when they were made as a block

3D TIPS From SIR BENJIE

Create a reference line ( vertical )

ELEV

SWEEP ( Path )

LOFT – to produce ruled surfaces

LINES FROM TOPO CANNOT BE CONNECTED BECAUSE NONCOPLANAR

Technique , Use PL command

Type PL , then click any first point on the “PLAN” plane then the second point
will be the end point of the Topo Line and finally trace the Topo Line by clicking
the other endpoint

Thus , you were able to trace over ( above the 3D Topo Line ) with a Polyline
lying on the “PLAN” plane

TO TYPE EXPONENTS OR SPECIAL CHARACTERS

Double click the text and click this to obtain the pull down menu

Then choose Symbol from the menu

OR go to Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Character Map to show the
dialogue box of the characters ( while the AutoCAD file is open )

Then click the character you want , to insert this character , click Select then
click Copy

Then on the AutoCAD paper space , paste ( Cntrl V )

CHECKING WHY VIEWPORT NOT BEING PRINTED WHEN THERE IS 3D

OBJECT IN THE FILE AND IT IS SHADED OR RENDERED

Click this menu to modify properties

Then click the lay out viewport rectangle in the drawing

Shade plot should be “ As displayed “ ,

But could be Sketchy , Shaded ,
Rendered , Wireframe , XRay , 3D
