A hugely successful World Banknotes sale, followed by the Ibrahim Salem collection of Africa and the David Saul collection of Bermuda, altogether totalled around 3000 lots and made just under £3 million. After all that, it would have been good to have a pause and take a breath before we started again, but we have had no such luxury. This World Banknotes auction, which in previous years might have been considered nothing more than a fall stop to the year’s activities, instead stands on its own as a ‘proper’ sale with over 1250 lots and some very good notes indeed! Star of the show is the lovely Qatar & Dubai 25 riyals, but there are also particularly interesting sections of Ceylon, Iran, Norway, New Zealand, some wonderful early Scottish, and a fascinating Russian group from the John Glynn collection. All in all, a veritable plethora of paper. With Hong Kong in January building up as well, it seems as though that pause for breath will just have to wait a while longer. Good Inck to you all, Barnaby and Andrew a 378 WWW.SPINK.COM December 5 & 6, 2013 - LONDON SPINK Day One ‘THURSDAY 5 DECEMBER Morning Session commencing at 10.00 a.m (Lots 1-398) Al Sales are subject 10 the Terms and Conditions for Buyers printed ar the back of chs catalogue Estimates ‘The estimated selling price of exch lot is printed below the lot description and does not include the Buyer’s Premium, Bidders should bear in mind that estimates are prepared well in advance of the sale and are not definitive.
