The April sale will certainly hit doorsteps with a satisfying thud (unless the cat is sleeping on the mat!) We have our usual offerings of archive type material, some beautiful essays and some jaw dropping specimens. If you don’t like the East Africa 20 florins then you don’t like banknotes (personal opinion). We have the Alan Cole Albania and Bulgaria collections, a superb collection of Palestine, many ex Dabbah collection, and some unique Israeli essays. There is also a group of low number Bank of England, always hard to find, and the contents of a gorgeous engravers book of colour trials with hitherto unseen Palestine and a ‘Ploughman’ set. Spectacular! A varied Commonwealth offering includes two Seychelles number 1 notes and an Australian £10 number 1, the aforementioned East Africa and a wide range of other issues. Strong Middle East with some splendid colour trials, great Lebanon and Syria, Jordan and Iraq. We even have some items I have never handled before. I love the Lithuanian presentation album of 1922, and the early Cuba and Bank of Spain issues would be in my sclection of the World’s most beautiful banknotes in a heartbeat. As always we hope that everyone finds something to appeal, good luck, and if nothing else enjoy the catalogue (once you've lifted it off the cat!) Bamaby and the team. 1325 WWWSPINK.COM April 10, 11 & 12, 2013 LONDON DAY ONE WEDNESDAY 10 APRIL 2013 Afternoon Session commencing at 1.00 p.m. All Sales are subject to the Conditions of Business printed at the back of this catalogue Estimates ‘The estimated selling price of each lot is printed below the lot description and does not include the Buyer's Premium. Each lot consists of a $1 note Which has been cut into three picces. ‘The left half has been left untouched while the top right was heated with carbolic and the lower right was heated with crcosole. A tracing paper rubbing was then performed on these latter two sections. This process was a method of testing colourfastness of various inks, and the ability of the paper to hold its colour. Each of the six lots consists of all three sections of note, plus the two rubbings, all backed on gridded and watermarked Paper. Interestingly while all these notes are $1, using the design of 1895, the colours shown are those which were eventually used on the $1, $2, 85, $10, $50 and $100 notes of 1924. e Uppunider A betes fe EA pamlit yus7 Government of Bi SPINK th Honduras, a colour test for the $2 of 1924, on a $1 of the same year, brown and. light blue, arms at top centre, tied “Appendix B” and. the SI of 1924, blue and dark red, arms at top centre, for colour), unique and interesting titled “Appendix A” and dated “5th May 1913”, (Pick 14 for ype), unique and interesting £500.70 39 dated “Sth May 1913”, (Pick 14 for note type, Pick 15 £500-700 WORLD BANKNOTES 159 Government of British Honduras, a colour test for the $10 of 1924, on a $1 of the same year, manve and. black, arms at top centre, titled “Appendix D" and. dated “Sth May 1913", (Pick 14 for note type, Pick 17 jis for colour), unique and interesting Government of British Honduras, a colour test for £500-700 the $8 of 1924, on a $1 of the same year, green and dark brown, arms at top centre, titled “Appendix C and dated “Sth May 1913”, (Dick 14 for note type, Pick 16 for colour), unique and interesting 500-700 WWWSPINK.COM April 10, 11 & 12, 2013 LONDON S/T Piblag fo Chapel Riker rely enfprpirdlnt nbn t160 Government of British Honduras, a colour test for the $50 of 1924, on a $1 of the same year, blue-grey and brown, arms at top centre, titled “Appendix E* and dated “Sth May 1913”, (Dick 14 for note type, Pick 18 for colour), unique and intresting 5000-700 Cig oie tint ly er penn ode = jie1 Government of British Honduras, a colour test for the $100 of 1924, on a $1 of the same year, maroon and black, arms at top centre, titled “Appendix F and dated “5th May 1913”, (Pick 14 for note type, Pick 19 for colour), unique and interesting £500-700 a SPINK Car picpoial fe thi i dra itaty eager jie2 < proof $1 (3), ‘proposed colours for the 1924 issues of the S10, 55100, mauve and black, blue grey and brown and maroon and black respectively, all with arms at top centre, value in table at centre, and at low centre, left and right, mounted on paper with 'the tite “Appendix H” and dated “Sth May 1918” (Pick 14 for note, 17, 18 and. 19 for colours), abunt extremely fine, rare and interesting (3) £2,000-3,000 WWWSPINK.COM WORLD BANKNOTES April 10, 11 & 12, 2013 LONDON BRITISH NORTH BORNEO. x163 British North Borneo Company, $5, 1 December 1922, serial number BI70481, black on green underprint, arms at top centre, value at centre and each comer, reverse red, values (Pick 4b, Tan N7e), presed but 2 presentable fine £400-500 x16 British North Borneo Company, $25, 19- (1922- 27), serial number C1176, ‘black on gree lunderprint, mountain scene at top centre, vale tunderprint, at left and right and etch comer, reverse y-brown, value at centre (Pick 17, Tan N10), PMG very fine, artactive and searce £800-1,200 x165 British North Borneo Company, 50 cents, 1 January 1938, red serial number 1269176, green’on cream paper, arms at left, reverse value at centre (Pick 27, Tan N3a), some fosing but overall very fine £80-120 43 x16 British North Borneo Company, $1, 1 July 1940, serial number K741054, black on pink underprint, reverse black, value, and $5, 1 January 1940, serial ‘number H009627, black on green underprint, reverse pink, value (Pick 39, 30, Tan NIL, N12), both good fine(2) £300.400 x167 British North Bornco Company, S10, 1 Jul serial number 1009831, black on brown un arms at cop centre, valle at left and sight and each, comer, reverse blue, value (Pick $1, Tan N13), PMG 25, very fine £400-500 SPINK WORLD BANKNOTES BRUNEI fies.
