Chautauqua Quilters Guild 2018 Quilt
Show-
Chautauqua Quilters Guild will hold its next
quilt show.
“QUILTING: A WORK OF HeART”-
Feb. 16th & 17th of 2018. The show will
include an Opportunity Quilt, several
vendors, demos, door prizes, and more. Our
guest guild, the Silver Thread Quilt Guild of Fort
Walton Beach, Florida, will also be part of this
biennial show. This show will be held at the
DeFuniak Springs Community Center, 361 N.
10th Street, DeFuniak Springs, Fla, 9:00 AM until
4:00 PM each day.
Admission will be $6.00 for adults.
Children 12 and under are admitted free.
Each year the guild chooses one or more
community projects.
For 2016- 2017, the guild
made Quilt of Valor quilts
to present to wounded
military veterans. The guild
helped through the 4-H
program with the UF/IFAS
Extension service of
Walton County and taught
a four-day sewing and
quilting class for youth
each year. Our guild has
made over 200 Christmas stockings for the Guardian

Children’s Advocacy Center. Also, more than 100
pillows have been made and donated to the Children
Advocacy Center.

Paying attention to ADHD
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
is the name given to a condition that usually
manifests itself in children, boys more than girls.
ADHD behaviors can be different in boys and girls.
Boys may be more hyperactive and girls may tend
to be quietly inattentive. The exact cause of ADHD
is not clear, but research efforts continue.
According to researchers at Mayo Clinic, signs
and symptoms of ADHD may include difficulty
paying attention, frequently daydreaming, difficulty
remaining seated and excessive talking.
ADHD can run in families and studies indicate that
genetics may play a role. Certain environmental
factors may also increase risk.
Most healthy children are inattentive, hyperactive
or impulsive at one time or another. It is normal for
preschoolers to have short attention spans and be
unable to stick with one activity for long. Even in older children and teenagers, attention span often depends on the
level of interest.
The same is true of hyperactivity. Young children are naturally energetic and some children just naturally have a
higher activity level than others do. Children who have problems in school but get along well at home or with friends
are likely struggling with something other than ADHD. The same is true of children who are hyperactive or
inattentive at home, but whose schoolwork and friendships remain unaffected.
If a parent is concerned that their child shows signs of ADHD, they should see their family physician to have a
medical evaluation first to check for other possible causes of the child's difficulties. ADHD doesn't cause other
psychological or developmental problems. However, children with ADHD are more likely than are other children to
also have conditions such as learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, depression, manic behavior or a pattern of
negative, defiant and hostile behavior toward authority figures.
In general, a child should not receive a diagnosis of ADHD unless the core symptoms of ADHD start early in life
and create significant problems at home and at school on an ongoing basis. There is no specific test for ADHD, but
making a diagnosis should likely include a medical exam to help rule out other possible causes of symptoms,

becoming overtired because fatigue often makes ADHD
symptoms worse. Work to remain patient and calm
when dealing with a child, even when the child is out of
control. If you are calm, your child is more likely to
model that behavior and
become calm too.

'Millions of women voted for Donald Trump.'
This past weekend thousands of women - and men -
took to the streets to show the world how nasty they
can be. They called it the “women’s march” but I
refuse to call it by that name.
Truth is, by calling that vulgar display of hate and
bitterness a “women’s march” we are actually
demeaning and degrading what it means to be female.
Think I’m kidding? Think I’m exaggerating? Think
I’m anti-woman, anti-feminist, anti-female
empowerment? Well, behold, the logical fallacy that is
modern day feminism. Nothing says, “take me
seriously” like marching around in pink hats
screaming profanities and demanding free things.
Does that look like female empowerment to you?
Does that look like a march by women, for women?
Not to me and not to any reasonable, decent woman -
or man. Yeah, nothing says “female empowerment”
like a bunch of actual mean girls demeaning and de-
grading and delegitimizing successful and accom-
plished women, right? It’s disgusting. The women you
are bashing on your signs and with your chants don’t
think like you, so we are less than you? We are the
problem? We aren’t "real" women? Bull!
Is that the example you set for your daughters? You’re
proud of that? It’s really a shame. Your so-called
“women’s march” isn’t about standing up or fighting
for women at all. It’s just a giant temper tantrum
clogging our streets and hurting our ears, and eyes. If
you truly believed in improving women’s rights, you
wouldn’t be led by activists like Linda Sarsour, a
Sharia Law defender who routinely attacks other
women with some of the most disgusting language
I’ve ever read. If you truly believed in female empow-
erment you would acknowledge that President Trump
has women in some of the most important jobs in the
White House and in his cabinet, including the first
ever Mom to be press secretary. If you truly believed
in making things better for women, you’d celebrate
the lowest female unemployment rate in 18 years
under yes, Donald J. Trump. You’d also celebrate the
economic growth, tax cuts, job creation and stock
market boom we are experiencing under yes,
President Donald J. Trump. He is what America
needed prior to ever letting the Obama regime of
crooks take control and steal our wealth world-wide.
We must come together to rally around the 1Man
doing exactly what he promised to those who elected
him to do. Clean up wasteful spending in the Govt.
