Significant Weather Features
♦ Dense to very dense fog observed at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, north West Rajasthan, Bihar, Tripura & North Interior Karnataka;
Moderate to dense fog at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram
& Tripura and Gangetic West Bengal. The lowest visibility (in meters) observed at Ganganagar, Agra, Purnea & Kailashahar25 M each; Tehri,
Bhagalpur & Belgaum50 M each; Ludhiana, Bikaner, Narnaul, Fursatganj, Varanasi, Sundernagar, Delhi (SFD, PLM), Digha, Majbat, Agartala,
Chandbali and Patna500 M each from 0230 to 0830 hours IST of today.
♦ Cold wave conditions observed at isolated places over Bihar. Yesterday, Cold day to severe cold day conditions observed at many places
over Punjab and at isolated places over Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
♦ The western disturbance which caused weather over northwest India yesterday has moved further eastwards and weakened. As a result, the
Sky has cleared, night temperatures have started falling and dense to very dense Fog has reappeared at isolated places over parts of northwest
India. Dense to very dense fog at isolated places likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Bihar during
next 23 days., only in the morning hours. Day temperatures are likely to rise over these regions from today. The remnant system as a trough is likely
to cause weather over parts of northeast India, mainly over Arunachal Pradesh during next 3 days.

♦ Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today):
At most places over Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttrakhand ;
At many places over Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Lakshadweep;
At isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The amount of rainfall recorded at 0830 hours IST of today (1cm or more) are: Ludhiana, Patiala, Dharmsala, Una, Solan, Nahan, Dehradun, Tehri
and Mukteshwar2 each; Katra, Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Hissar, Manali, Bhuntar, Sundarnagar, Shimla, Pantnagar, Delhi(Ridge) and
Aminidivi1 each.

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 1430 hours IST)
♦ The remnant Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper level westerlies now runs with its
axis at 5.8 km. above mean sea level roughly along Long. 85°E to the north of Lat. 25°N.
♦ The trough of low at mean sea level from Lakshadweep area to southeast Arabian Sea off
Kerala Coast persists.
♦ The cyclonic circulation at 1.5 km above mean sea level over southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala
Coast persists.
♦ The trough of low at mean sea level over southeast Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood with the
embedded cyclonic circulation extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists.
Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 29th January 2018
♦ Meteorological subdivision wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in
Table.
♦ Minimum temperatures likely to fall by 23°C over West, Northwest & adjoining Central India
during next 23 days. Similar fall is likely over eastern India, after a day.
♦ Maximum temperatures very likely to below normal by 23°C during next 24 hours and rise by
24°C in subsequent 48 hours over East India.
♦ Shallow to moderate fog very likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland,
Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days from 29thJanuary to 31th January 2018
♦ A fresh western disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered Rain/snow over Jammu &
Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
♦ Weather likely to be dry over remaining parts of the country outside Andaman & Nicobar
Islands, where isolated rainfall likely.
