PROBLEM 1

A single-phase load is supplied with a sinusoidal voltage

𝑣(𝑡) = 200 cos(377𝑡)

𝑝(𝑡) = 800 + 1000cos⁡(754 − 36.87°)

a) Find the complex power supplied to the load
b) Find the instantaneous current 𝑖(𝑡) and the rms value of the current supplied to the load
c) Find the load impedance

PROBLEM 2

An inductive load consisting of 𝑅 and 𝑋 feeding from a 2400-V rms supply absorbs 288 kW at a lagging
power factor of 0.8. Determine 𝑅 and 𝑋.

PROBLEM 3

Consider a series RLC circuit with 𝑅 = 25⁡Ω, 𝐿 = 6⁡𝑚𝐻, and 𝐶 = 25⁡𝜇𝐹. The circuit is connected to a 10

b) Which is greatest, the power delivered to the resistor, to the capacitor, or to the inductor?
c) Find the average power delivered to the circuit.

PROBLEM 4

The instantaneous voltage across a circuit element is 𝑣(𝑡) = 359.3 sin(𝑤𝑡 + 15°) volts, and the
instantaneous current entering the positive terminal of the circuit element is 𝑖(𝑡) = 100cos⁡(𝑤𝑡 + 5°) A.
For both the current and voltage, determine:

a) the maximum value

b) the RMS value
c) the phasor expression using cos⁡(𝑤𝑡) as the reference.
d) the load impedance

PROBLEM 5

Consider the circuit shown below in time domain.

a) convert the entire circuit into phasor domain

b) calculate the power factor
PROBLEM 6

Consider the circuit composed of a series R-L branch in parallel with capacitance with the following
parameters:

𝑅 = 0.5 ohms
