Dear Alex,

Re: International Policy Analyst– FATA Cell

I write to you with regards to the above vacancy advertised on the ‘Working for An MP’ website for which I
should like to be considered. Accordingly, please find attached a copy of my current résumé.

From this résumé you will see that most of my working experience and qualifications are in law but please do not
be put off by this. I was also fortunate enough to have served as a reservist with the Intelligence Corps and as
an adjunct to this, train and work as an Intelligence Analyst for Kent County Constabulary.

I believe that the skills I gained from those two roles coupled with those desk based research skills I have had to
cultivate throughout my legal career would hold me in good stead within this role.

I understand that the role is unpaid and I accept that as money is not a major reason behind my application.

From my résumé you may see that I also gained a qualification in Foreign Policy Analysis. Whilst I have worked
extensively in law this has been because – outside of government service and the usual round of policy
institutes, roles within International relations and security have always been a scarcity. From what I have read
The Transnational Crisis Project approaches matters of security analysis from a perspective that may produce
more results than ordinarily, one that may yield more utilizable results than normal.

Presumably responses to this advert will be numerous, competition will be fierce and the calibre of candidate
undoubtedly high. Despite this, I still feel I’ve got a fighting chance and would welcome any opportunity to
discuss my candidature further, at your discretion off course.

Yours sincerely

Emmanuel James Oteng
