Speaking – Read Aloud -1- Increase Oral Fluency


You need to work on your fluency level. For that here is what you can do is: -
 Make no Repetitions, if in between of your answer if you feel that you have pronounced
something wrong don’t correct it just go with the flow and complete the sentence because if
you correct it you will lose the marks in Pronunciation as well as in Oral fluency.
 Always maintain the flow of your speech
 Practise as much as possible of read aloud for removing hesitations from your speech. Read
at least 10 – 12 Paragraph every day.
 Need to remove the pauses, omissions, repetition, hesitation from the speech to score
good marks.
 What every you do don’t take any long pause in your speech. It affects the oral fluency
heavily.
 Record your voice in the phone while reading something quickly to find out omissions ,
number of repetition , hesitation and work on those particular error.

2- Pronunciation need some improvement


Pronunciation is crucial part which need a lots of practices and hard work
but it is also easy once you know how to practice. You can flow these few
tips for improvement: -
 Stress (pressure or tension exerted on a material object.) Use the stress properly. It plays
a major role in pronunciation marks. Watch videos on Stress improvement.

 The best way to improve the pronunciation level is Get some paragraph and read that
while recording voice in phone. Then later input the same Paragraph in Google
Translator and listen to their audio how they pronounce it and compare it with yours.
Find the area where you lack and do the needful.
 Read as much as possible with loud voices some time word sound deferent when we
speak the loud and you will have to speak loud in test centre anyways.
 Important tip: Do not pronounce same word twice.
 Natural pronunciation takes time. So watch English videos, channels, specially news
and step by step before you know it you will be an expert.

Speaking – Repeat sentence – Losing marks at repeat sentence: -


Repeat sentence is a score able section where your oral fluency mostly stay fast.
But still here are some tips which you can work on to get maximum marks.
 Half – Half – As soon as audio start remember to memorize the first half
of the sentence and write down the second half.
 Write down the First Alphabet of every word in note book try to
memorize that way.
 Just write the small words like (to,the,is,in,a) and memorize the big
words.
 OR else just close both your eyes to get some more concentration on the
sentence.
 Whatever, you do don’t make any pauses just go with flow.
 Do not correct yourself.

Speaking – Describe image & Retell lecture – Describe image &


retell lecture are reducing overall marks.
These two section are easy if you know the protocol of giving proper answer.
Focus on the tips to achieve the maximum marks.
 The most important tip is Describes all elements of the image and their
relationships, possible development and conclusion or implications. If not
all elements, then at least give the conclusion.
 If you’re not able to explain all the elements, then just mention which are
key elements. Which are affecting the most in the picture.
 There are limited type of graph, pie chart, flow etc. Learn how to explain
those type of graph.
 Oral fluency gets decreased a lot of times in these kind of question. Go
with the flow try to make as less as possible pauses, hesitation etc.
 If you don’t know anything or cannot make any stuff to say just say
anything literally anything. For example, if the question is about
explaining white house and you explained our own house but in flow then
you will at least get the marks for oral fluency and Pronunciation.
 For Retell lecture if there is no image then close your ears to get
accuracy.
 Practise at least 5-10 images example in every day for assuring get marks.
 Use short forms for taking notes. Note down important figures. And
speak all the key elements as much as you can.
 Understand the theme.

Speaking – Answer short Question –Need to concentrate on


Answer Short Question.
Questions are based on General Awareness.Concentration is very important
in this section. This tip can help you ace the exam: -
 Practice in like this play your favourite music in background and focus on
particular lecture. This exercises can help you improve your
concentration level.
 If you see the answers are very simple but the question is asked in that
manner that it become quite hard to interpret.
 You can even close eyes for getting concentrated on audio clip.

Writing – Summary – Need to practices of Summary: -


Summary is count the reading skills so read as much as possible.

 You have to summarize a passage of 200- 300 words


 Use important details - not all but few, and should be well synchronized.
 Present key points. Include topic, supporting points, appropriate phrases
 Write using only one sentence with one full stop. Keep ideas and content in
logical order only.
 If you don’t understand the passage, synchronize the first and last part of
passage.
 Write only one sentence with a CAPITAL letter at the beginning and a period
or full stop at the end.
 Doesn’t need to write 50-70 words in order to achieve maximum marks justify your answer in 30-40
words can also achieve the same but have to be meaningful
 Try to get the key point – use the notepad provide.
 Know that you are reporting, which is generally in past tense.
 Use the linking words to connect the main idea with the supporting ideas

Writing – Essay – develop Essay Skills: -


You can be a pro at essay with practices and many essay type.
 Understand the Question first. If you are getting any question that ends
with what do you think, give your opinion? Where your Opinion matters ;
Here you need to end with a good conclusion about the summary.
If the Question is about advantage and disadvantage, pros and cons, right
or Wrong? ; Here don’t provide any conclusion just explain both the key
element one by one.
 The more you practice different types of essays and examples of same
topic the it will increase your essay skills.
 Key to 79+ is simple sentences with few “hi-fi” vocab words and
100% perfect grammar and you are good to go.
 Most important things are writing in a logical way, grammatically
correct sentences, answer the questions asked in the prompt, state
your opinion clearly.
 Refer template but don’t copy it, work around the template.
 There are generic sentences with good vocabulary that you can use
for different topics.

General tips: -

Total words: 200-300

Format:

 Introduction: (Understand the subject and write on current or relevant


scenario)

 Body paragraph 1: Agree/Disagree… write on any one opinion, do not


confuse by adding two different ideas, Connect one sentence to another
 Body paragraph 2: Agree/Disagree…. Choose the same opinion as chosen
in body paragraph 1
 Give suitable examples (do not give personal examples). Generalize the
statements

 Conclusion: It requires a well-balanced opinion mentioned in both the


paragraphs.

General Note:

 Make sure all the sentences are well connected


 Use appropriate punctuations i.e. (comma, hyphen, full stop)
 First Letter Always Capital. Carful with name, country & other noun.
 After writing essay check commonly used words and substitute with synonyms.

Reading – Multiple Choice, Choose Single Answer
Need improvement in this section: -
Develop some unique skills - concentration, patience and focus. Does some
quality practice Sets which will help you definitely.
Eliminate the false options, it will help you to get better clarity and select
the one which logically fits the actual idea of the question.

If you focus on the key words in the prompt , you will find the answers
more quickly and spend less time reading the text

Determine what the question is asking by identifying key word in the


questions.

Never leave the questions black – guess if you are not sure.

 Answers are always there in the paragraph, try omission procedure.


If there is no information mentioned about specific option, then that
option is not the answer, do not assume anything

Reading – Multiple-choice, choose multiple answer-Need improvement in this


section: -
Answer only if you are 150% sure, at least selects one option though. Min
marking is 0. Remember you will get -1 for wrong answer so think
carefully.
Use same strategy as mentioned for Multiple Choice, Choose Single Answer.
 Read for detailed information.
 Use key words in the options to help you find the answers in the text.
 If you are not sure and time is being wasted, just tick one and move
on, don’t spend more than 2–3 minutes. The later questions are far
more important than comprehension.
Reading – Reorder paragraph --Not scoring in reorder paragraph: -

 The first sentence should contain a clear "subject” or what/who the


sentence is about. The first sentence should be independent.

it should make sense without other sentences.

The first sentence should introduce the other sentences.

 The second sentence should follow the first sentence.

The second sentence should add more information to first sentence.

Next sentence will give introduction of topic sentence if not given in first.

The "object” of the first sentence should become the "subject” of


the second sentence.

 The third sentence should follow the second sentence

The third sentence should add more information to the second


sentence.

 The "object” of the second sentence should become the "subject” of the
third sentence.

 Final sentence should relate back to the other sentences in a kind of


summary. The final sentence should complete the paragraph.

 Then identify connectors and find next sentence.

Reading– Fill in the blanks -– -You can achieve maximum marks in these
section: -

This question type demands logical ability hence it’s very important to carefully
look at the important words. These tips can help you improve.
 Look at the context around the gap and try to predict the word or type of word that could
logically fill each gap before you look at the word option.
 Look at and analyse the options. Chose the one that best match your prediction.
 In drag-and-drop and drop-down blanks, if you cannot relate to the
actual word in the option, try to eliminate the least possible answers.
 If everything in the text seems confusing, match every word with the
sentence (here you have to be extremely fast) and analyze the best
possible answer.
 Some blanks will be in common phrases where collocations, such as
between adjectives and nouns can help you find the answer.

Reading& Listening -Multiple Fill in the blanks–-You can achieve maximum


marks in these section: -
It is thesaurus based question, the answer would be similar meaning words
but only one word matches the context of the question. So you will need to
learn collocation and understand which words suits when.

 Read the text quickly before you start to get an overall understanding
of the content and decide on the main topic or idea. This will help you
choose words with the right meaning.
 Note any small words like prepositions that come after the blank.
These will help you rule out some options.
 Think about whether you need a countable or uncountable noun.
 Look at what comes after the blank.
 Use reference words such as this, these, it, etc. to help you make the
correct choice. Only one option is the correct group noun.
 Never leave any question unattended, and time is the hardest thing to
manage in reading so always practice with a clock i.e; 32–41 min.

Listening - Summarize spoken text – Need to improve hearing and writing skills

 As the audio lasts for 01:30-02:00 minutes, it becomes very important to


note certain key-points.
 The lecture will be conceptual or will be based on
issues/problems/concerns, hence understand the main subject and try to
write in your own words.
 You are supposed to write 50-70 words.
 Try to frame 3-4 sentences.
 Keep the length of sentences short.
 Use punctuations - especially ‘commas’
 Begin with subject - then the point related to it - and lastly conclude the
same
 Watch movies using headphones, just to get used to different
ascent of people, sometimes the ascent are so different, you
might not understand them.
If listening is your issue- Start listening to podcasts, radio and
audio books.
Leave yourself 1-2 minutes after you have written your summary to check
your sentences for grammar

 Here you have to compulsorily understand every aspect of the audio being

 Stay attentive.

Select for meaning, not just to match the word you hear.

Listening - Fill in the blanks – Need improve in this section –

 One of the easiest question types


 Here you need to need to have very good listening and typing skills
 Make sure the word makes grammatical sense, as sometimes the participle
and plural sounds are not heard.

While the audio is playing write the words on the notepad first.

Skim the text before the recording begins


Listening - Highlight correct summary–Practices is need for Highlight correct
summary–
You will not have time to read the transcription carefully before the
recording begins, but you will have time to skim it quickly.

 As you are required to select any one out of given options, try to use
Elimination method.
 The options are quite long and have more content, it very important to
listen to every aspect of recording
 Try to note down or remember the last part of the audio, as this will make
it easier to locate correct answer.
 The introduction part will be mentioned in every option and hence look at
the one where the introductory part is clearly mentioned and most
importantly, last part of the passage will also be mentioned.

Take notes and then match them to the correct summary

Write down key word and phrases , number , names , dates ,and important information

Listening - Select missing word –Totally depends on hearing skills -

 Focus on the last part of the Audio


 Eliminate the least possible options
 You have to logically co-ordinate the options
 Use 7 seconds to read the instructions and quickly look at the options
 Pick the option that can follow the last few words and also make sense
in the overall context of the recording
 Keep the eye on the audio progress bar –as soon as it comes near
the end put extra efforts in making sure you capture the last few
words
 You will gain marks for each correct word spelled correctly
 Try to spell the words correctly and check grammar before you click
on 'Next'.
 Don't miss endings, such as -ed on past verb forms, -ly on adverbs or
-s on plurals.
 Do not forget: first capital letter and full stop at the end.
Listening - Write from dictation – Get some practices of Write from dictation -

 Stay very focused


 Type the best you can, as there is partial credit

Type as many words as much you can remember in order no need to write the whole
word just to remember the sentence only.
 As you listen, write all the words that you hear on your Erasable
Notebook Booklet.
 After the recording, write the sentence in the response box
 When you write the sentence, write the words you hear and do not
paraphrase.
 You will gain marks for each correct word spelled correctly

On the exam day


 Stay calm.
 Take a break after listening
 Adjust headphones and Mic properly, take your own time doing that.
 Focus, even though there will be noises around.
 Keep the headphones on when you solving other sections, it will help
in reducing those minute sounds like typing sound or any other
sounds.
 Do not try to read too much before the exam, start with a fresh mind.
 Get accustomed to the test, not many people have taken a computer
based test prior to taking the PTE.
