TRIGGER MECHANISM:
Our trigger mechanism is based on helical path combined with pulley
system. It is based on the releasing of the ball from some height, it follow
the helical path and come down and fall on the small container which is
connected to the gate of the container (containing water) through the pulley
system which helps in the opening of the gate.

Exlpaination: (front View)

After opening the gate of the container which contains water, the mixture is
then transported with the help of half-cut pipe, and goes to reaction
chamber through funnel.
The mixture is then reacted with the aluminium foil which results in the
evolution of heat, thereby rising the temperature of water.

REACTION MECHANISM

Reactants Amount Market price(Rs) Cost(Rs)

Al foil 6gm 170/kg 2

30% NaOH solution 200ml 200/kg 20

Balanced eqn

2 Al + 2 NaOH + 2 H2O → 2 NaAlO2 + 3 H2+1000KJ/mol

Enthalpy of reaction(ΔH) = 1000 KJ/mol

OBJECTIVE OF REACTION

Heating 500 ml of water without boiling.

Initial temperatue: T1= 298K (25 C)

Final Temperature: T2 = 300K (100 C)

Specific heat capacity C =4.184KJ/kg

Energy requirement for this change.

ΔH = mC ΔT =0.5*4.184*(100-25) = 156.9 KJ =160 KJ approx.

Principle of heating

1. Conduction: the exothermic reaction produces enough heat to heat the tin to a temp
of more than 130 C. Due to its high thermal conductivity tin conducts heat throughout
due to conduction.

2. Convection: Heat from conduction is emitted to water which in turn gets heated due
to convection.
