ENGLISH AND FRENCH CLUB

School Year 2012 / 2013

English Club has existed for four years at our chool. There are about 10
students in our Club and we have regular meetings on Wednesdays, between
1.30 p.m and 2.15 p.m. We do different activities, from reading and writing poetry,
practising spelling, to singing, etc. We have participated in different projects and
taken part in different competitions. This year we have joined the large project
One BiH, One Book.In this booklet you will read more about our activities.....and
maybe decide to become a member of our Club

Le club francophone a été créé il y a quatre ans. Il y a 11 membres et nous

avons des réunions à vendredi à 13 heures et demie. Nous faisons des activités
différentes comme lecture de poèmes, nous faisons des affiches, nous faisons
aussi des présentations différentes etc. Nous avons participé aussi aux
compétitions différentes. Nous avons aussi participé à des projets divers.

peut-être vouz allez décider de nous rejoindre, de participer au travail de notre

OCTOBER – NATIONAL BOOK MONTH

We really hate it when doom and gloomers say, “No one

reads anymore.” We read millions of words a day on
blogs, news websites, Facebook, texts, ridiculous e-mail
forwards and more. We know what they mean to say is
“No one reads books anymore,” but we find that equally
offensive. We love reading books, too and think it’s time
we showed the world that there are still plenty of book
lovers out there.

International Day for the

Elimination of Violence against Women

The Inter-Parliamentary Union calls upon gov-

ernments, parliaments and non-governmental or-
ganizations to organize activities to promote public
awareness of the problem of violence against wom-
en, including on the International Day for the Elim-
intion of Violence against Women, which is observed
on 25 November each year

In November 2013 we worked on a project through which we wanted to say

NO to VIOLENCE. We organised a whole set of activities with the purpose
of promoting awareness of the problem of violence against women and
children. Students from the 1st grade (I2) also wrote a poem which deals
with this topic.

One BiH, One Book

The participants of English club of Second Gymnasium Mostar showed enviable

knowledge and eloquence in the project called '' One Bosnia and Herzegovina, One
Book'', in the organization of American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Project ''One BiH, One Book'' is based on highly successful program which is being
implemented in cities throughout the USA, and the aim of project is, using the novel
''The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian'', of American-Indian writer Sherman
Alexie, to start a conversation between high school students about issues that teenagers
are faced with, both in BiH and in the USA.

The project also enables students to learn more about the Native American culture, as
well as to improve their English language skills.

Within the project, on Thursday, 7th February 2013, students together with their
professor Arnela Pandur visited the American Corner in Mostar and participated in
discussion about Alexie's book with attache for culture of American Embassy , Ms. Ison
Sunshine.

A la découverte d'un pays: La France

La France est un pays magnifique! En France il y a beaucoup de choses à voir:

villes, musées, églises et beaucoup d'autres. La langue officielle est le français, mais il ya
plusieurs langues locales: basque, breton, catalan, corse, flamand, allemand, occitan etc.
Le gouvernement français et le ministère de l'éducation ont été récemment autorisé à les
utiliser. Les langues régionales désormais enseignées dans certaines écoles, mais le
français reste la seule langue officielle, à la fois au niveau local et national.

Le 14 juillet, la France célébrait sa Fête Nationale en souvenir de la Fête de la

Fédération de 1790, qui eut lieu un an après l’évènement symbolique de la prise de la
Bastille. L'un des bâtiments les plus célèbres est la Tour Eiffel. La tour Eiffel est une
tour de fer de 324 mètres de hauteur (avec antennes) située à Paris, à l’extrémité nord-
ouest du parc du Champ-de-Mars en bordure de la Seine dans le 7e arrondissement.

L’Arc de triomphe de l'Étoile souvent appelé

simplement l'Arc de triomphe, construit de 1806
à 1836 sur ordre de Napoléon. L'Arc de
Triomphe fait maintenant partie des monuments
nationaux à forte connotation historique.

La cathédrale Notre-Dame de
Paris, ou Notre-Dame est la cathédrale de
l’archidiocèse catholique de Paris. La
construction s’étant étendue sur de nombreuses
décennies (deux siècles), le style n’est donc pas
d’une uniformité totale : elle possède ainsi des
caractères du gothique primitif (voûtes
séparatives de la nef) et du gothique rayonnant.

Le musée du Louvre est l'un des plus

grands musées du monde et le plus grand musée
de Paris. Le Louvre possède une longue histoire
de conservation artistique et historique de
la France, depuis les rois capétiens jusqu'à nos
jours.

La cuisine française fait référence à divers

styles gastronomiques dérivés de la tradition française. Les plats français sont
rarement gras, du porc ou autre, mais jamais dans les pas de roux. La cuisine
française est très diversifiée. La France est un pays qui produit plus de 370
variétés de fromages. Les vins français se retrouvent un bon nombre des
caractéristiques de la région d'origine: la structure du sol et sa composition, la
position et la pente, le nombre de jours solaires, le montant du gel et du vent.

La journée de la francophonie

Chaque année en Bosnie-Herzégovine , nous célébrons La

journée de la Francophonie.

Cette année il y avait de différentes activités destinées aux

jeunes.

Le 29 mars il y avait une exposition des affiches sur le sujet“

La chanson française“ faites par les étudiants du collège et les
étudiants des lycées au Centre culturel pour les jeunes de Mostar „
Abrasevic“.

Nos étudiantes Selma Ćorić et Inesa Brekalo ont gagné le Grand

prix pour l'affiche.

Nos étudiants Dalila Spahić, Jasmina Venhari et Sabina Šunje

ont obtenu les prix au concours "Les Jeunes Francophone 2013". Dalila
Spahic a gagné le séjour linguistique en France.

Teachers and students at our school decided

to participate in this year’s National Spelling
Bee for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Approxi-
mately 90 schools, including ours, from
across BiH held classroom spelling bee
competitions in March, 2013.We held ours
on 4th March, 2013 and winners were Ana
Pešut (II4) and Mia Kajtaz (I2).

Our top two students competed against

others from the region on Monday,
March 25 at 13:00 at the American
Corner in Mostar. Neither of them won
the competition, but we are very proud of
them and happy that they participated.

22nd April – International Earth Day

The annual observance of the International Mother Earth Day by the United Nations
on April 22 is part of the UN’s efforts to raise awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natu-
ral environment.
By declaring this International Day, Member States of the United Nations recognised
their responsibility, as called for in the Rio Declaration, adopted at the 1992 United Nations
Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), also known as the “Earth Summit”,
to promote harmony with nature and the planet to achieve a just balance among economic,
social and environmental needs of the present and future generations of humanity.
The term “Mother Earth” is used commonly in a number of countries and regions, to
refer to the planet earth, reflecting the interdependence that exists among human beings, other
living species and the planet we all inhabit.Today, International Mother Earth Day is celebrat-
ed in about 175 countries around the world.

Zaza Fournier est née en 1985 à Paris

(France) d'un père prof et d'une mère
graphiste. Dès son plus jeune âge, elle se met
à la musique et commence par étudier le
violon.La jeune femme propose en octobre
2008 son premier album éponyme. 'La Vie à
deux', sorti en 2008, est un jubile de chansons
canailles. Auteur-compositrice-
interprète, elle aborde les
thèmes de l'amour, de la vie à
deux et des désillusions, avec Parole de La Vie à Deux:
humour et sensibilité. Elle Ne fais pas comme ceci, moi je fais comme cela,
c'est ma manière à moi
