Luisito
A man of few words. He doesn't entertain people around him who tries to reach out. He's probably a nerd, he loves to read books.
He has an older sister named Isabela who loves to tease him when it comes to having a relationship. His father left them when he
was born, and his mother died when he was only ten years old because of Leukemia—that's why he treasures her sister the most,
he just doesn't know how to show it. He never intended to go to college for he doesn't want her sister to spend money just for
him and persisted to work instead. His sister didn't let him to work, he remained at home for almost two years. During those years,
he and her sister founds out that he inherited her mother's disease—cancer. He had a brain cancer, Stage 1. Fortunately, his
cancer cells isn't spreading fast. He does not even feel symptoms of it. Her sister persisted to bring her in hospitals abroad but he
refuses and just decided to medicate in the hospital near the city, study, and live his life to the fullest.
Angela
A bubbly girl. She was told before that her spirit is a virus—it can infect you. She seemed very happy outside but the truth is she's
hiding dark experiences before. She' already surpassed those but hasn't forgotten about it. During her high school days, she was
bullied because of her sickness. When talking in front of many people, she can't speak clearly. She's been in and out of school
because of that. She's suffered depression and even tried to commit suicide.

SCENE 1 - [Character(s) involved: Old Luisito]
Old Luisito (voice over): Sólo otra mañana. Todavía pienso en ti.
Old Luisito (voice over): Just another morning. I still think of you.
Show old man’s back—the man sitting by his study table, shivering with the cold weather, his hands were trembling while finding
the pen on his table crowded with books and papers.
Old man finally got the pen, camera slowly shifts closer to the old man’s face. Then to the journal as he writes: (and with
supporting voice over)
4:07 AM |#2044|
4:07 AM |#2044|
I've written thousands of words unspoken, buried them in hundreds of journals unread. Still, I don't run out of ink. I never knew
it's possible to wield an unending opera of longings until you're suddenly gone. Because the last time I checked, I hate journals…
and I hate you.
Old man gets a picture from the bunch of papers beside him. Old man looks sad, he sighs as he stares at the picture. Camera shows
the picture of a young man glaring at a grinning young lady.
/Flashback/
The young man enters the school with his typical facial expression, then a lady from his class runs to him and paces with his
footsteps.
Young Luisito: (Ignores the lady and continues to walk past the lady, eyes forward.)
Angela: ¡Espere!
Angela: Wait!
Young Luisito sits on his chair beside the room’s window, Angela recognizes Luisito, she smiles and sits on the chair at his back.
Angela moves her chair towards Young Luisito’s chair.
[Bgm fades]
Angela: Soy Angela Ortega Martínez, ¿y tú?
Angela: I’m Angela Ortega Martinez, and you?
Young Luisito: (Ignores the lady again, gets a book (Emma by Jane Austen) from his bag, then reads.)
¡Me encanta Dante! Especialmente su-- (gets cut by Young Luisito’s glare)
Angela: (excitingly) What are you reading? I love to read, too! Do you know Dante Alighieri, the author of the Divine Comedy? I
love Dante! Especially his— (gets cut by Young Luisito’s glare)
(Angela widens her smile as she raises her eyebrows, then offers a hand in front of Luisito.)
[Insert bgm]
Luisito glares again in return, then sighs and was forced to accept it.
Young Luisito: (sounds annoyed, while shaking hands with Angela) Luisito, Luisito Cruz y Vega.
Young Luisito: (sounds annoyed, while shaking hands with Angela) Luisito, Luisito Vega Cruz.
[Bgm fades]
(Professor arrives)
Young Luisito ventures his way out of the classroom, Jane Austen’s novel in his hands. Reading while walking.
Young Angela walks by: You also read Romance? That’s unusual for a man these days.
Young Angela: ¡Bueno! Entonces me gustaría recomendarle La Vita Nuova de Dante. Podrías disfrutarlo ya que contiene prosa y
versos
Young Angela: Good! Then I would like to recommend you Dante’s La Vita Nuova. You might enjoy it for it contains both prose and
verses.
Young Luisito: (Stops walking then stares at the lady with one brow raised, as if asking why.)
Young Angela: Para el recuerdo. Me encanta tomar fotos.
Angela: For remembrance. I really love to take pictures. Who knows? It may be my last. (Laughs) And you are my first friend in
school, after all. Say whisky!
(Camera clicks even before Young Luisito looks at it. Resulting to the picture of a young man glaring at a grinning young lady.)
/Flashback/
Camera shows Angela walking into the classroom, towards her seat. Sits. Moves her seat closer to Young Luisito’s. Pokes Luisito
with her left index finger, while the other index finger points near to Luisito’s right cheek. Luisito slightly turns to her, with a slight
frown, because her finger touched his cheek, witnessing Angela with slanted head and already smiling at him.
Angela then sees Young Luisito lying on the canopy while reading a familiar book. She will bid goodbye to her friends.
Francesca: Bueno.
Frances: Okay.
[Bgm fades]
Angela slowly goes to Young Luisito, careful not to be noticed by the boy. When she saw the book Luisito was reading, her eyes
widened, she grabbed the book from Luisito, and screamed in excitement.
[Bgm fades]
Young Luisito: Not actually, what choice do I have? I have already read all the books I have. Now, give it to me.
SCENE 6 - [Character(s) involved: Angela, Luisito, Francesca, Elena and Cristina, other people]
Shows a scene where in Luisito is lying on the grass while reading a book (again).
Luisito remains lying on the grass, not minding Angela's grip on his arm.
Luisito sighs and lazily stands up. Angela still pulls her near her friends' location.
Angela: ¡Bueno! Ella es Cristina, ella es Elena, Y ella es Francesca. ¡También son amantes de los libros!
Angela: Okay! She is Cristina (points at Cristina), she is Elena (points at Elena) and she is Francesca (points at Francesca). They are
also book lovers!
EXT. ROADSIDE
[Muted]
(Jogging together)
Luisito gets tired of running, stops, to breathe properly. Angela still continues but notices Luisito. She gets back and pulls him up.
Luisito gets up and glares at her, Angela laughs again in return and continues to run.

SCENE 9 - [Character(s) involved: Angela, Luisito, Francesca , Elena and Cristina, other people.]
(Song: Cumpleaños feliz, cumpleaños feliz, te deseamos, nuestra Angela, cumpleaños feliz.)
Song: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday our Angela, happy birthday to you)
Angela smiles and laughs afterwards. Cristina sings with Francesca and Elena, then Angela follows.
Luisito still sits on the sofa, then the three girls move towards him and eagers him to sing. Luisito then starts to sing the song, and
smiles.
[Bgm fades]
SCENE 10 - [Character(s) involved: Young Angela and Young Luisito]
Young Luisito: That necklace is actually my mother’s. She gave it to me years ago, it was so precious to her that she told me to
take care of it.
Angela: Gracias.
Angela: (looks at Luisito and smiles with all her heart) Thank you.
To Luisito's shock, Angela hugs him tightly. (Bgm becomes louder) Camera shifts to Luisito's shocked expression, then to Angela,
eyes closed, yet smiling. At first, Luisito remain stiff but suddenly returns the embrace. Camera shifts to Luisito, smiling, then to
Angela, (eyes now open), smiling too.
Old Luisito (Voice over): I can still feel the warmth of your embrace.
If I could only turn back time, I would go back to that moment.
I miss those times. I miss those—I miss... you.
/End of Flashback/
(The flashback stopped when someone knocks on the door. Maid comes in, handling a tray with a cup of hot coffee.)
(Maid places the coffee on Old Luisito’s table. Afterwards, the maid goes out of the room.
Old Luisito looks at the coffee with reminiscence. Camera focuses on the coffee, then on the face of Old Luisito.)
Old Luisito gets his pen again, then flips a page on his journal, then writes:
(with voice over)
4:31 AM |#2045|
(Voice over)
He
4:31 AM |#2045|
Thoughts kept flooding my head again. You know, it's not easy to stop thinking about my 'what ifs' in life. I have tried long time
ago, but failed to do so.
Old Luisito (voice over): Trying is futile so I just let myself list down the 'what ifs' that I could learn to ask. And of all the 'what ifs' I
have collected, there is this one which is my favorite:
Camera shifts to the journal as Old Luisito writes, “What if” then pauses. (with voice over: What if/ ¿y si?)
Camera shifts to Old Luisito, as he looks at the window, reminiscing.
Old Luisito (Voice over): Todavía no puedo olvidar cómo lentamente te alejabas de mí.
Old Luisito (voice over): I still can't forget how you slowly drifted away from me.
Camera shows the beautiful view of the beach, then shifts to Luisito and Angela who's walking together.
Young Luisito: ¿Así que qué es lo? ¿Por qué me trajiste aquí, eh?
Luisito: So what is it? Why did you bring me here, huh? (Pinches Angela's nose)
Angela: ¡Ay! Sabes, necesitamos relajarnos a veces. La escuela nos está dando tanto estrés. Nos estamos graduando.
Angela: (groans) Ouch! You know, we need to relax sometimes. School's giving us so much stress. We're graduating. (Angela looks
at the sea)
Camera shifts to Luisito's face. He seemed shocked and confused. He's unmoved.
Angela: ¡Lo siento!
Angela: (Now facing the ground) I'm sorry! It's just... it's not hard to fell for you. I saw how good you are. I just can't myself from—
(Luisito cuts her off).
[Old Luisito (voice over): No, yo quería oírlo. /No, I wanted to hear it.]
Angela: 'Lo siento. Pensé que podría superarlo, pero no puedo. Esta cosa se niega a ignorar amarte. Pero yo-
Angela: I'm sorry. I thought I could get over it, but I can't. This thing refuses to ignore loving you. (Points at her chest) But I cou—
(Luisito cuts her off again, his face, now dark with unexplainable anger.)
[Old Luisito (voice over): No. Me preocupo por ti. /No. I care about you.]
Angela: Luisito…
Angela: (tears were starting to form in her eyes) Luisito...
Young Luisito: ¿Sabes que? Estoy cansada de llevarme bien contigo ... y tus amigos. Así que mejor termino este acto ahora. ¿Me
amas?
Luisito: You know what? I'm tired getting along with you—and your friends. So I better end this act now. You love me? You're
ridiculous. From this day on, do not ever dare to talk to me again. I don't wanna see you anymore.
[Old Luisito (voice over): Me estoy poniendo demasiado apegado a ti, tengo miedo de que me cause dolor.
I'm getting too attached
with you, I'm scared that it may cause me pain. I'm scared that I might hurt you in the end. I still wanted to be with you, but drifting
away is better, better than hurting you more.]
N-no.
Angela: (tears started to roll down from her eyes, her hands trembling) You don't have to do this, Luisito. W-were friends after all,
right? If I n-need to forget about it, I'll try my best! But please... don't ask me to leave you. D-don't. (Voice croaking)
[Old Luisito (voice over): Lo siento, no quise … /I'm sorry, I didn't mean to...]
Luisito walks away slowly, he's preventing himself from crying. Angela runs towards him while crying, then pulls his left arm.
Luisito pulls his arm from her and stops walking.
[Old Luisito (voice over): Te quiero. /I love you. I wanted to say those
words, but I wanted to save you from the pain.]
Angela stops, her world seemed to turn upside down. Tears roll by, the pain she's holding was too much.
Luisito continued walking, now crying. Angela (still crying) slowly turns her back and walks away. Camera shifts to Luisito who
looks back, hoping that Angela will look back too, but she didn't. Luisito continues walking, tears rolling.
Camera shifts to Angela. Angela then stops and looks back to see if Luisito will stop walking. But he did not looked back anymore.
She wiped her tears and continued walking.
[Old Luisito (voice over): Yo fui el que se alejó de ti. No tú../ I was the one who drifted away from you. Not you...]
(Camera shows Angela and Luisito, drifting away from each other.)
/end of flashback/
Old Luisito (voice over) All of a sudden, the bond I've never imagined to vanish—loosens. Your smiles faded. Your laugh, which I
always say that I'm irritated with, when the truth is I am so much attracted to it—turned into a frightening sound of silence.
Eventually, you stopped talking with me the way you always do.
You are with me, but the girl I have known for long... was already gone.
Y yo era el culpable.
And I was the one to be blamed.
[bgm fades]

5:36 AM |#2047|
Old Luisito:
I never got the chance to talk to you again. I never heard about you again, after our graduation. I was stupid not to tell you how I
really feel before it was too late for me. I am afraid of possibilities. I am a coward who left the battle when it has not yet started.
Maybe, we're not meant for each other... from the very start.
[bgm fades]
--
Camera focus to the old man while holding his chest. Old man still continued writing.
Pen rolls before old man could ever write the last word.
(Bgm fades)
Old Angela (face not shown), holds a piece of paper, knocks on the door of an old house. Micaela, the maid, opens the door.
Isabela, Luisito’s sister, sees Angela and the necklace on her neck. Isabela's eyes sadden and she let Angela enter the house.
Isabela holds Angela's hands and brings her to a certain room. Isabela calls the maid and then whispers to her (asks for the key).
Afterwards the maid gives the key to Isabela. Isabela opens the room and tells Angela to go inside. The room was full of dirt.
Isabela gets a big box underneath the bed and opens it.
Isabela hands over one journal notebook to Angela, then taps her shoulders and leaves the room.
Angela scans the brown journal notebook. Shoulders started to shake as she read the entries written there. She tried not to cry,
but the last words from the last entry made her.
5:54 AM |#2049
Hundreds, or maybe thousands of questions remain unanswered. I couldn't blame anyone except from myself. This is my fault, for
guarding my heart against your love—which I, now, long for.
I don't expect that you could still read everything that I have written. I don't even know if you already have a man beside you, or if
you're still breathing. I don't know anymore.
But I what I'm sure is, this will be the last entry I will ever write. I still don't run out of words to say, but this will be the last. This
must be the last.
Farewell has already reached me. Finally, this is the ending of the story that have never begun.
No podía culpar a nadie excepto a mí mismo.
(voice over)
Angela: Todavia te quiero.
Angela: I still love you.
