• Perform other IGateEdge & network-related functions.
• Presents various aspects of the network system
such as Topology View, Logical View,
Hardware View, History browser, Current Alarm view,
Report browser.

Topology, Logical & H/W View NETWORKS

The Topology View lets you view the entire network with its regions,
areas, sites, and I-GateEdges organized in a tree configuration.

The Logical View provides a visual representations of an I-GateEdge in

its functional and structural position within the network, displays the status
of an I-GateEdge's spans and ports, and lets you access a variety of
I-GateEdge operations.

The Hardware View provides a visual representations of the cards

installed in an I-GateEdge, displays updated hardware configuration
information, and lets you perform related maintenance procedures.

Confidential
History Browser, Alarm View and Report Browser NETWORKS

The History Browser lists alarms and events in clear tabular format, with
a variety of tools facilitating your navigation through the view, allowing you
to filter information as required.

The Current Alarms View lets you acknowledge alarms. System

operators can further determine which alarms require manual
acknowledgement and which may be more efficiently handled by being
automatically acknowledged. In this way, the Fault and Performance
Manager cuts down on the time required for operators to do lengthy
searches and routine acknowledgements for standard alarms.

The Reports Browser provides detailed statistical and performance

reports which are generated at defined intervals or upon demand. The
report parameters can be customized so that only the information that is
relevant to you at a given time is stored in the reports database and
displayed.

Daily functioning Veraz View –xMS FPM Overview NETWORKS

Daily tasks :
• Event Management
Managing alarms and event in 2 categories:
- current alarms :
View alarms that are currently open on any of the network nodes, as well as
closed alarms that have not yet been acknowledged. It also enables you to
manually acknowledge individual alarms, selected groups of alarms,
or all alarms.
- history browser:
View events and traps that have been sent by NEs and stored in the
database. The trap messages are displayed from the database, not directly
from the I-GateEdges. The Security Log, which is the History Browser
filtered for security events, enables a user holding View Security Log
permission to view user actions and user permission events.

Daily tasks :
• Report Viewing
The Fault and Performance Mgmt enables you to view reports, depicting many
aspects of the network and I-Gate operations, at defined intervals during the
day. These reports are calculated in the I-Gates and stored in the reports
database
• IGateEdge operations
I-GateEdge operations involve viewing and modifying I-GateEdge details.
The Fault and Performance Mgmt provides several easy-to-use views that
enable you to display different aspects of an I-Gate's functionality.
• IGateEdge control
The Fault and Performance Mgmt enables you to acquire, release or take over
control of an I-Gate within the network system. Acquiring control of an I-Gate
enables you to ensure that the I-Gate will not be modified by another operator
for the duration of I-Gate maintenance procedures.

Event Management NETWORKS

A large proportion of daily tasks involve handling

events that occur because of traffic and hardware
failure in network elements.

Current Alarms: The Current Alarms view enables you to view both open
alarms and closed alarms that have not yet been acknowledged. The Current
Alarms view also enables you to track event handling by viewing events as
they occur and acknowledging them.

History Browser: The History Browser enables you to view past events and
alarms, and enables you to filter event information in order to see as much or
as little information as required, and to focus on specific event information.

Logical View NETWORKS

The Logical View displays the current status of all spans for an I-
GateEdge. The spans and related IP ports (on the IP side) of the
selected I-GateEdge are displayed according to the definitions of the I-
Gate's configuration map, which is defined in the VerazView-xMS
Configurator.

CIR NETWORKS

The Committed Information Rate (CIR) is the minimum rate for

transmission of IP data in the event of congestion on an IP-over-TDM
link. Ordinarily, under conditions of congestion, IP data packets have the
lowest priority and are liable to be discarded. Thus the CIR setting
ensures the transmission of critical IP data traffic, such as management
over the bearer. The CIR is expressed in units of kbit/sec, and
its range is 0 to 512 in steps of 16.

Hardware View NETWORKS

The Hardware View is a representation of the cards installed in an I-

GateEdge. The display varies, depending on the selected I-Gate type.
The FPM reads the hardware information directly from the I-GateEdge. If
there is any discrepancy between this hardware information and the cards
defined in the I-GateEdge's active configuration map, it can be detected
in the Hardware View.

To access the Hardware View:

In the Topology View, right-click an I-Gate (or in the Logical View, right-click
anywhere) and select Hardware View; the Hardware View is displayed,

Report & Statistics

Confidential
Report Browser NETWORKS

The VerazView-xMS FPM Reports Browser lets you view multiple reports
depicting various aspects of I-GateEdge activity.

Statistical reports are automatically calculated by an I-GateEdge and stored in

the database at defined time periods throughout the day.

The time bases for collecting the report parameters include:

Daily, enabling you to compare I-Gate activity from one day to the next;
Current, enabling you to view I-Gate activity for today's date;
STI, enabling you to view I-Gate activity for a defined statistical time interval of 15
minutes.

Confidential
Report Browser NETWORKS

The time base options for report parameter collection vary, depending on the
report type. The parameter values displayed for each report record are
automatically updated to reflect the time base selected in the Report Browser.

The time base options are as follows:

􀂄 EPI: Error Performance Interval. Report records are collected for each 15-
minute interval. New reports are automatically calculated at the end of each EPI.
This time base is available only for E1/DS1 Performance Monitoring reports.

􀂄 STI: Statistical Time Interval. Report records are collected for each STI,
defined as 15 minutes. New report records are calculated automatically at the
end of each STI. This time base is for traffic reports.

Confidential
Report Browser NETWORKS

􀂄 Daily: Report records are collected for 24-hour intervals beginning at midnight.
Daily reports are calculated automatically by the I-Gate after midnight, and are
stored in memory for a specified time period.

􀂄 Current: Displays report records beginning from midnight until the current
time. Current reports are calculated by the I-Gate upon user request. Unlike
Daily reports, Current reports are not stored in memory. They are meant to
provide you with information about today's I-Gate activity.

E1 /DS1 PM Report NETWORKS

The E1/DS1 Performance Monitoring Report is based on the ITU-T G.826

performance monitoring standard definitions.
This section describes the parameters included in the E1/DS1 PM report. This report
is calculated per E1/DS1 Span, and for the time bases Current, Daily, and STI.

•􀂄 ESR: Errored Second Ratio, the ratio of Errored Seconds to the total seconds in
available time, during a fixed measurement interval.
•􀂄 SESR: Severely Errored Second Ratio, the ratio of Severely Errored Seconds to
the total seconds in available time, during a fixed measurement interval.
•􀂄 BBER: Background Block Error Ratio, the ratio of Background Block Errors to
the total blocks in available time, during a fixed measurement interval. A BBER
occurs when a CRC Block Error occurs in a block that is not part of a SES
(Severely Errored Second), and can only be calculated for bitstreams defined
with CRC.
•􀂄 UAS: Unavailable Second. A period of unavailable time begins at the onset of
ten consecutive SES events. These ten seconds are considered to be part of
unavailable time.
•􀂄 ALSNE: Alarm Second Near End, the number of seconds in which an LOS, AIS
or LOF event occurs.
•􀂄 TxSlip: Tx Clock Slip. A TX Controlled Slip Second is a one-second interval
containing one or more TX controlled slips. This is not incremented during an
unavailable second.
