Mechanical Engineer
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in regards to obtaining a graduate level position within
Astronics Test System. I strongly feel I am suitable for the current available position
of Field Support Engineer; and also any other Mechanical Engineering related
position.
Astronics Test Systems designs and administers testing on a myriad of
electro-mechanical equipment and I am prepared to continue my skill set of
designing, troubleshooting, and fixing electro-mechanical systems. These skills were
obtained during my undergrad and postgrad studies at University of California, San
Diego and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo respectively. Two examples of designing such
systems are an automated foot controlled syringe injector and a pressure sensitive
electronic skateboard. Both projects underscore my knowledge of Solidworks and
programming skills as well.
Another skill that I possess which will benefit Astronics is my prior
experience living and working in China. From my research, I understand that
Astronics conducts a fair amount of business in Taiwan. Similarly, I spent six months
living and working for a home furnishing company called Boloni in Changzhou,
China. As a sales intern, my duties of assisting and greeting in store clients helped
mature my business and hospitality skills while quickly enhancing my Mandarin
Chinese.
Furthermore, I have acquired a thorough understanding of fluid dynamics,
thermodynamics, and other engineering principles. By the end of my current studies
I will be familiar with Fluent CFD program. I am committed to mastering these skills
while working and also acquiring new skills quickly that are demanded from this
company.
In addition, my professionalism is evidence by my two years spent working
for National Oilwell of Varco as a sales engineer. My responsibilities included
presenting detailed and technical reports and presentations of offshore drilling
equipment in different countries, particularly Brazil and Norway.
Lastly, I am very familiar with the engineering process and working in a team
dynamic to collectively accomplish a desired task in accordance with Astronics
culture of “Teamwork”. I learned this throughout my years at UCSD and Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo during group projects and labs.
