THE “LAST MINUTE RISK ASSESSMENT (LMRA)”- BOOKLET IN PRACTICE
SOME TIPS FOR USE

What is a LMRA and how to do it?

What is a LMRA?

Prior to commencing any works on construction sites, on service assignments, on

commissioning services or on maintenance jobs, the employees shall check if all
related hazards have been identified and preventive or protective measures have
been implemented.
The Last Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) must be completed every working day
prior to each shift and task.
The goal of the LMRA is to strengthen the employees’ awareness of safety at work.
The LMRA benefits from the knowledge and skills of each employee involved. This
helps to prevent injuries to employees.
The LMRA shall be completed by everybody at the workplace!

How to do the LMRA?

1. Date / Time: The current day’s date and time
2. Location: The place where you have to work
(company, site, building, floor / level, room…)
3. Task: Short task description
4. Hazards: Cross out non-present hazards.
5. Controls: Decide whether or not the present control measures are
sufficient by ticking off “YES” or “NO”.
6. Identification: Controls must be identified for each hazard ticked off
“NO”. Outline briefly the control measures required to
mitigate the hazard.
7. Signature: Confirm the completion of the LMRA by signing.

If your work area remains unsafe DO NOT START to work until

sufficient controls are implemented. Inform your supervisor and
the client representative.
