Before you run the application 1

Before you run the application

Before you run your Lectra product, you need to obtain a FLEXlm license code
file to license and run the product. To do so, as you formerly used to give a
dongle number (green key), you now need to transmit to the Lectra
Representative the HOSTID number of the workstation that is to be licensed.

Obtaining a Lectra FLEXlm HOSTID

The are three kinds of FLEXlm HOSTID : MAC address, FLEXid number and
GreenKey number.

MAC address: A MAC address is a unique number assigned to a Network

Interface Card (NIC), commonly called an Ethernet card. A MAC address is a 12-
digit number. Each digit is a number from 0-9 or a letter from A-F. Sometimes the
digits of a MAC address are separated by dashes ('-').

FLEXid number: The FLEXid is a Dongle connected on the USB port.

Each FLEXid has a unique number. This number can be retrieved with Lectra
tools. If these tools are not available, the external number written on the Dongle
can be used to obtain a license, they are identical.

GreenKey number: A GreenKey is a Dongle connected to the serial port of

a Workstation. Each GreenKey has a unique number. This number can be
retrieved with Lectra tools. If this tool is not available, the external number written
on the Dongle can be used to deliver a license, according to this external
number, the GreenKey HostId can be retrieved.

The HOSTID will be processed by the Lectra administrative department so

that you can retrieve the Licence Code File.

Obtaining a HostId by using LectraFLEXlm tools

All Lectra Products install LectraFLEXlm tool.

To launch it, click on Start menu > Programs > Lectra > Tools > FLEXlm
The following window is displayed:

2 Obtaining a Lectra FLEXlm HOSTID

All available HostId are displayed.

All these HostId numbers can be saved in a file using the following button

The FLEXid number is displayed only if the required driver is installed. This
driver is automatically installed during the installation of Lectra Products.

For GreenKey, the port selector allows changing the serial port where the
GreenKey is effectively connected. The button can be used to search the
port automatically.

If you have a GreenKey connected and its number is not displayed verify that the
serial port is correctly configured.

Obtaining a HostId without LectraFLEXlm tools

Obtaining a MAC address

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

2. When a black window appears, type in ipconfig /all (with a ' ' (space)
between the 'g' and the '/') and press enter.

3. Locate the 12-digit number to the right of Physical Address

(example: 00-E0-29-1C-3D-87).

4. The MAC address is the 12-digit number without dashes ('-') (example:
00E0291C3D87

Obtaining a GreenKey number

The external number written on the Dongle can be sent to Lectra. On each side
of the dongle a number is written in black.
One of them begins with the Letter A, for example A041404. This is the number
you have to sent to Lectra.
The external GreenKey number is the number beginning with A and written in
black on the Dongle.

Licensing FLEXlm on a Single Workstation 3

Obtaining a FLEXid number

The number is written on the key just after the text FLEXid =

The number beginning with the number 9 and the character minus (-), for
example 9-41EDBB01

For example the text written on a Dongle looks like this:

HASP4 M1 133-4bC

FLEXid = 9-41EDBB01

In this case the FLEXid number is 9-41EDBB01

Licensing FLEXlm on a Single Workstation

The license code file contains licensing information for the software. When you
have received the Licence Code File (LCF), it needs to be installed in a specific
folder.

When you purchase a product with a new computer from Lectra, the software
and license code file are already installed.

If you have other Lectra products on your workstation, you may need to
rename your .lic file before you move the file into the License directory.

Installing a License file

Open Settings folder by launching Start > Lectra > Tools > Setting

A windows appears.

Open the License folder (double click on it)

Drag and drop your license file into this folder.

If a file with the same name exists, you should rename it before making the copy.

Where are the installed License files?

On Windows NT or Windows 2000 workstation

The licenses files are installed in the folder C:\Lectra\Licenses.

4 Licensing FLEXlm on a Networked Workstation

On Windows XP workstation

On English and international versions of windows XP, license files are installed in
the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Lectra\Licenses directory.

On Windows Vista workstation

On English and international versions of windows Vista, license files are installed
in the folder C:\ProgramData\Lectra\Licenses directory.

According to the Windows configuration, the disk C: is replaced by the correct

one

According to some versions of Windows XP, this path may change to respect
Microsoft rules. For example, the "Application Data" part can be translated in the
localized language, the "All Users" part can be followed by other letters.

To be able to view some directories (in this case, Application Data), you need to
change your "Folder Options" (we suggest you keep this option):

Open My Computer then select Tools, Folder Options, View, and select the radio
button Show hidden files and folders. Validate with Apply, OK

Licensing FLEXlm on a Networked Workstation

Lectra products can also access a .lic file across a network with the FLEXlm
license server. When you use Lectra products with a networked license, or a
floating license, you are sharing licenses with other users on the network.

Floating licenses are accessed only as required and can be made available to
other users when not in use.

FLEXlm License Server software needs to be installed on the server workstation

(refer to specific doc n° 521431). Your server administrator also needs to obtain
a .lic file and place it in the appropriate directory. Once stored on the server, you
need to edit the licloc.txt file to reflect the address of the FLEXlm server.

• Open the Setting folder by launching Start > Lectra > Settings

• A window appears.

• Open the Config folder. (double click on it)

• Open the folder (double click on it) corresponding to the application (for
example Diamino or Modaris).

• Double click on the file licloc.txt. This open Wordpad to modify this file.

Where are the License Configuration files installed?

On Windows NT or Windows 2000 workstation

The license configuration files are installed on

C:\Lectra\Config\<AppName>\licloc.txt. <AppName> corresponds to the
application name

On Windows XP workstation

On English and international versions of windows XP, the license configuration

files are installed on C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Lectra\Config\<AppName>\licloc.txt directory.

On Windows Vista workstation

On English and international versions of windows Vista, the license configuration

files are installed on C:\ProgramData\Lectra\Config\<AppName>\licloc.txt
directory.

According to the Windows configuration, the disk C: is replaced by the correct

one.
