Project title : Provision of 45-footer motorized banca

Project beneficiaries : members of Alpas who are engaged in hook and line fishing and fish vendors.
Funding source : LGU 20% Municipal Development Fund or other available funds.
Total project cost : Php.200,000.

I. OBJECTIVES:

1. To provide livelihood to small fisherfolks who are engaging in hook and line fishing and fish
vendors.
2. To serve as monitoring vessel for the organizations coastal resource management projects, such
as mangrove reforestation, coral reef regeneration, campaign against illegal and destructive
fishing and search and search and rescue operation to fisherfolks who are in distress on shore

II. RATIONALE :

The municipality of Matnog is home to marginal fisherfolks who are engaging in deep sea- Hook
and line fishing along pacific coast-San Bernardino strait and Ticao pass, exploring miles away from the
shore where abundant catch of fishes is available.
However, due to a matter of distance and in regards to danger, traversing the high seas on a tiny
motorized fishing banca is too risky on waves along the way, and the consumption of gas gives burden
to small fisherfolks and the late arrival in site for casting hooks and delayed delivery of fish produced to
the market which often lost its freshness.

III. STRATEGY OF IMPLEMMENTATION :

The proposed project is to purchase a 45-footer motorized banca to be used as hauler and loader
of small fishing bancas to and from the distant fishing grounds along tne pacific coast.
